Aris hits ground running, signs
5 Exec Orders on day 1 as guv

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, July 9 [PIA] –It was not exactly “tamjune,” or aptly up to the end of June for some casual, contractual and plantilla positions hired by the previous administration, as Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado signed five executive orders on the very hour winning politicians would have basked in the spotlight during the day they take oaths of office.

For the new governor, it was a historic moment when, on the first hour of his official installation, Aumentado signed five executive orders that would well define his seriousness in his campaign to give Boholanos the kind of service they deserve.

Among his first official acts, the former solon now governor signed Executive Order No. 1, series of 2022, which established the Bohol Economic Recovery Task Force, the group mandated to formulate action plans through consultations to draw the economic revival blueprint for his term.

The group is also tasked to review and update existing rehabilitation plans, recommend proper measures based on the legislated recovery plans and monitor the implementation of the approved adopted actions to ensure its completion and Bohol reaping of its desired outcomes.

He also signed Executive Order No 2, series of 2022, which established the Office of Governance Accountability and Review (OGAR].

The OGAR would be tasked to identify and go over the dealings of the Provincial Government and its officials and employees prior to June 30, especially those which appear to be against the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Officials and Employees, probe and investigate such to identify persons responsible and involved and recommend appropriate actions for such individuals.

The order stemmed from reports of allegations of irregularities and questionable transactions of the officials and employees of the Provincial Government prior to the elections.

Then, the governor signed Executive Order no 3, series of 2022, establishing the development agenda and creating its focus and tracking group.

In his inaugural message, Aumentado, who had previous consultation with Boholanos, cited stable and sufficient supply of power and water, jobs and livelihood creation, peace and order and infrastructure as his development directions.

He also talked about governance reforms, health and social services, trade and industry, agriculture, eco-tourism, environment and education as flagship development thrusts.

He also laid down his priority development plans for his administration’s first 100 days.

That same day, he signed Executive order No. 4, series of 2022 which extended for 30 days specific job-order, casual workers or plantilla position employees who are contracted to perform critical and technical functions.

While the Civil Service Law is clear in co-terminus employees also officially ending their terms when the term of the appointing officer expires, the governor reasoned out that their immediate termination could disrupt and hamper government operations and could cause damage to live and property.

Such employees at the Provincial Health Office and the 10 district hospitals, General Services Office, Bohol Information Communication and Technology Office, Veterinarians Office, TARSIER 117, Bohol District Jail and those assigned to perform functions for the Sandugo Celebration have found a new lease of life, or at least for a month more.

Finally, the governor also signed Executive Order No 5, series of 2022, which set the guidelines on the entry of live poultry, captured wild ornamental birds, poultry products and by products, in defense of Bohol from the threat of the Avian Influenza.

Still remaining Avian Influenza-free, Bohol puts up a total ban on poultry products, birds and live chicken from mainland Luzon and mainland Mindanao, and regulated the entry of the named products from Avian-Influenza-free provinces and regions. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol]

620 triathletes vie in
Bohol Ironman 5150

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, July 9 [PIA]—About 620 elite athletes from 23 countries would be traversing Pangalo and Dauis roads, July 10, 2022 as Bohol hosts the Sun Life 5150 triathlon and Go for Gold Sunrise Sprint, the region’s first international swim-bike-run race after the pandemic.

About 500 elite male and female athletes from all over the world competing in age-group categories signed up for the 51.50 kilometer race, according to race organizers during a press conference at the Pavillion of the Bellevue Hotel Resort in Panglao, Saturday afternoon.

Happening after a five-year lull, the Bohol Ironman 5150 presents itself as a clear message that Bohol is now fully accepting tourists, as the province’s recovery is clearly sent in the message of the healthy lifestyle and wellness promotion, hints Capitol spokesperson John Maraguinot, speaking for Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado.

The event also comes in time for the Sandugo, when the Boholanos openly celebrate friendship, brotherhood and camaraderie.

The Ironman 5150 triathlon comprises of a 1.5 kilometer swim, 4 kilometer bike segment and 10 kilometer run, a shorter race compared to the 70.3 kilometer full Ironman race.

In fact, 5150 triathlon is the Olympic distance brand of the global mass-entry sports in the world, the Ironman.

On the other hand, around 120 male and female athletes, several of them beginners and come-backing athletes whose training regimen were contained in indoor gyms during the pandemic, would be joining the sub-category called the Go For Gold-Sunrise Sprint, a race of half the distance of the 51.50 kilometers.

Go-For-Gold Sunrise Sprint features 750 meters open-water swim, 20 km bike and 5km run, all in the roads of Panglao and Dauis towns.

Currently the shortest entry level race distance in the Philippines, the Go-For-Gold Sunrise Sprint has been the transition race of IronKids who join the age group races for their first tap at competing with the men and women in sports.

Out for the exciting Go-For-Gold Sprint category is Go-For-Gold Vice President and the country’s top elite athlete scout, a triathlete Jeremy Go.

Go, whose company is into developing top athletes to comprise the Philippine Team in international competitions has considered the presence of “a lot of talents in the Visayas and Mindanao,” which the 5150 Triathlon in Bohol can showcase.

Here in Bohol, the 5150 triathlon rolls-off with an ag-group rolling start at 6:30, with an open-water swim going out to sea from Bellevue Resort, for 1.5 kms before going back to the beach for the bike transition.

Here, each participant is given an hour to finish the distance to be allowed to the bike-transition.
Then, on road or hybrid mountain bikes, the participants go for the 40km flat course doing two loops and three turn-arounds at the Dauis-Panglao road.

Motorists are then advised to clear or at least give way to cyclists racing along Doljo to Panglao Church and then straight to Dauis boundary along the central line between 7 AM to 9 AM.

After another loop back to Dauis boundary, cyclists would speed down back to Bellevue for the run transition.

Cyclists who could not make the three hour and thirty minutes for the 4 kilometer course can not continue to the run segment.

In the run segment, from Bellevue, athletes take back to the Doljo to Poblacion Panglao road and turn right to Bil-isan road where a turn-about slot is placed.

Here, expect traffic management authorities manning the Bil-isan Panglao-Doljo highway from 8 AM to 10 AM.

Triathletes are given five hours to complete the entire course.

The sprint event starts at 8:00 AM and uses the same roads. [rahc/PIA-7/Bohol]
ALL SET, READY TO GO. Triathletes who were forced to train indoors to build stronger cardios, increase muscle mass and heap up on their stamina, finds finally a race that would test how much they have gained in the over two-years of disciplined training during the pandemic. For Bohol, the 620 athletes also mean over a thousand family members and support crew, race officials and organizers spending their money in Bohol to boost the province’s economy. (PIABohol]
