UBAY, Bohol. September 1 (PIA)--Ubay's march to progress is unstoppable.
Thus says Cabinet secretary Leoncio Evasco, guest speaker town's 170th founding anniversary September 1, 2017.
Evasco, who used to sit as town mayor of Maribojoc town, and had a long and tested years as Davao City administrator picked on Ubay's potential to be the next big thing in Bohol.
“Ubay has all the right ingredients to progress,” the Boholano who sits among the President's key trust positions, told the multitude of Ubayanons gathered inside the municipal gymnasium for the Anniversary program.
"The first ingredient is you, Ubayanons," Evasco announced.
Impressing on the fact that “peace in a place, guarantees progress,” the former mayor and ex priest noted: “It is only if you will allow it that the town can be permeated by lawless elements.”
"If a town does not care about its peace, no investors would come," he continued stressing on the need for an investment climate in a town.
Beyond the cooperation of communities, Evasco also cited Ubay's ace on its sleeve.
"You have facilities: an airport, good ports, fertile lands, mountains teeming with life," he added.
At the same gathering, Department of Agriculture Regional Director Salvador Diputado assured Ubayanons to make sure every patch of land in the town becomes an agricultural production area.
"Finally, you have leaders committed to development," Evasco pointed out earning a ripple of applause building into a roar filling the gym.
Ubayanon and District 2 Representative Aristotle Aumentado revealed that he has resurrected the move to convert the town into a science city, a move started by his late father Congressman Erico Aumentado.
The announcement also drew enthusiastic applause.
But before Ubay could step off into the point of unbridled progress, Aumentado asked the local legislators to put up a land use for the town to jibe with the NEDA master plan.
At the same time, Evasco asked local officials to immediately address the town's water problem.
He also said Ubay must make sure issues of power for industrialization is solved before it becomes a problem.
Ubay Mayor Constantino Reyes also delivered his State of the Municipality Address, which incidentally also detailed steps in addressing future issues of the town’s development. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
Seeing the unity of the Ubayanons in their 170th Foundation Day, Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco foresaw the unstoppable development of the town.
