Cops accost 93 in drug
use, trade in 56 days

TAGBILARAN CITY, September 29, (PIA)--Believe it or not, authorities nab at least three drug personalities every two days in Bohol in the last 56 days.

And when you think, that is enough feat to stop those egging to further engage into the illegal trade, think again.

Just as towns scamper to grab the honor as the first Bohol town to be declared cleared of drugs, authorities account over P1.6 million worth of illegal drugs in the last two months.

During a report at the recent Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) last Wednesday, September 27, Camp Dagohoy reported that from August to September 25, authorities have recovered some 143.29 grams of illegal substances with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P1,690,822.

During that span of time, police have conducted 65 operations, nabbed 93 persons and filed 141 appropriate charges, the report showed.

In Bohol, while some towns have been eager to beat each other to the line on who among the 47 towns and one city could get the credit for the first drug-cleared, the Provincial Anti Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) stressed that only when identified drug personalities in the town has completed the rehabilitation regimen, only then can they be cleared.

If, in the process, a newly identified drug personality is noted, the clearance moves until the last identified personality can be rehabilitated.

In some areas in the country, simple clearance by the Barangay Anti Drug Abuse Councils, confirmed by the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (MADAC) and the police can earn the towns drug clearances.

As this goes on, authorities continue to implement Oplan Double Barrel since March 1, 2017.

Since then, police have visited 6,460 households and urged identified drug personalities to show himself at the local police station for proper profiling or clearance.

The recent visits bring to 50,175 Boholano houses visited by the Toktok Hangyo Teams from the towns and the city.

Of the visits since March, 1,214 have personally appeared and or surrendered at local police stations to clear their names or ask police help to get to rehabilitation programs.

Since the start of the president-led anti drug drive, 39,082 persons have personally surrendered or appeared to police stations to get advice, whole police have nabbed 874 persons for illegal drugs violations.

Since March 2017, police have arrested 291 drug personalities in different states of drug trade or use in Bohol, Camp Dagohoy report bares.

Twenty-seven have either died or were wounded during these operations, police professing that when pressed and in mortal danger, they would rather be safe than sorry. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
