Sec. Piñol to lead launching of the
Bohol Fish Market & TienDA
TAGBILARAN CITY, Aug. 13 (PIA)--Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol will lead the launching of the Bohol Fish Market and TienDA on August 16-17 at the Bohol Agricultural Promotion Center in barangay Dao, this city.
The event comes barely a month after the Agri Chief promised to be back here to make true his promise “to flood Bohol with fish” after having receive complaints and even found out himself on the high cost of fishes sold in the markets during his last visit in Bohol last July 17-18, 2018.
DA-7 Regional Agricultural and Fisheries Information Services (RAFIS) Chief Cheryl Dela Victoria said that aside from fishes, different agri commodities like fruits and vegetables sourced from other regions in the country will be sold on their TienDA.
Piñol will also lead the launching of the Financial Literacy Program for the farmers and fisherfolk and the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Vegetable Training for the rural farmers.
During the two days activity, aside from the fish market and TienDA, there will be a series of seminars and lectures.
On August 16, the seminars will include urban agriculture, cacao production and processing, food safety and handling and market matching while on August 17, the seminars include fish cages farming, tilapia raising, hog raising, native chicken production and an orientation on the Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA).
PLEA is a special program of the DA through the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), wherein farmers and fisherfolks can avail of loan ranging from P5,000-P50,000 at 6% per annum interest.
However, those who can only avail of the loan must be a registered farmer, must have the Juan Magsasaka ID and needs to attend the orientation on PLEA.
In the opening ceremony on Thursday, the Agri Chief will deliver his keynote speech while Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. will give his inspirational message. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
