slots available in 2020
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Oct 10 (PIA) –The government has allocated some 2,968 scholarship slots for technical and vocational education and job training through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and putting in some 41,906,451.80 for that.
This, according to TESDA Bohol Provincial Director Maria Isabel Consejo-Buensuceso, who along with Assistant Provincial Director Carlito Quintano came to the Kapihan sa PIA to deliver more good news for Boholanos who still are struggling to find employable skills when the corona virus disease (COVID-19) closed most of their establishments.
The 2968 scholarship slots are for 2020, and are segregated according to the type of scholarship one opts.
TESDA, the government agency tasked to manage and supervise technical education and skills development (TESD) in the Philippines, and sets the direction, promulgates relevant standards, and implements programs geared towards a quality-assured and inclusive technical education and skills development and certification system, has five scholarship offers for Boholanos this year.
These are the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), Special Training for Employment Program (STEP), Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA), Rice Extension Services Program (RESP) and the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA), according to Buensuceso during the recent radio forum aired by DyTR and 92.7 Bee FM.
TWSP intends to fill the gaps in skills in the priority industry and sectors, and being one in tourism, agriculture and information technology, TESDA Bohol has put up for grabs some 1,219 scholarship slots for Bohol’s three districts, she added.
Most of these scholarships like Driving with National Certification II (NC II) for Provincial Training Centers (PTC) in Tubigon (20 slots), PTC Bilar (30 slots), PTC Inabanga (50 slots); Bread and Pastry Production NC II in PTC Tubigon for 50 slots, PTC Jagna (10 slots), Cookery NC II for PTC Bilar (20 slots), PTC (10 slots); Rice Machinery Operations NC II for PTC Bilar (10 slots); Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II for PTC Bilar (21 slots), PTC Inabanga (10 slots) and PTC Pilar (22 slots) and Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC III for PTC Inabanga (10 slots).
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I for PTC Jagna (30 slots), PTC Inabanga (30 slots), PTC Inabanga (15 slots), PTC Pilar (30 slots), SMAW NC II for PTC Inabanga (13 slots), PTC Pilar (31 slots) and SMAW NC III for PTC Inabanga (15 slots).
Bookkeeping NC III for PTC Jagna (40 slots); Trainers Methodology I for PTC Jagna (40 slots), Basic English Language for PTC Jagna (50 slots); Organic Agriculture Production NC II for Maribojoc DemoFarm (16 slots), for Egays Farm Integrated Organic Farm (32 slots); Contact Center Services NC II for SBR Tech Ed Trng Center (15 slots) and Computer System Servicing NC II for NorthCoast Bohol Inc (12 slots).
For STEP, this addresses very specific skills needed in the community and would usually bring in employment and income to residents, Buensuceso added.
Under STEP, SMAW NC I scholarship slots are allotted for SBR Tech Ed (48 slots), Bow and Arrow Institute of Technology (13 slots); Dressmaking NC II for PTC Tubigon (20 slots); Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II for PTC Bilar (20 slots), Bread and pastry production NC II for Asian Divine Light College (21 slots), CA-Lim Tech Trng and Assessment Center (22 slots), and Bohol International Learning Center (22 slots).
For Preparing and Cooking Hot Meals Leading to Cookery NC II, STEP has 21 slots for Asian Divine Light, 22 slots for Bohol Tec Voc, 22 slots for Eldecare Institute; Raising Organic Hogs Leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II for Egays Integrated Organic Farm (22 slots), and PTC PIlar (15 slots).
For Masonry NC I under STEP, scholarships are offered in PTC Inabanga (40 slots), and Cake making leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II (13 slots) for Dumaguete Christian Technical School Inc.
The third scholarship option is PESFA, a financial assistance scheme for post secondary and non-degree course holders in the private sector.
Their scholarship includes SMAW NC II (18 slots) for SBR tech Ed Center Inc and Taug Technical Institute (20 slots); Tourism Promotion Services NC II (15 slots) for Advance School for International Hospitality Services; Housekeeping NC II for St. Martha Skills Training and Assessment Center (15 slots); Events Management Services NC III with 15 slots for Amici Initiati Inc.; Bookkeeping NC III for CMC Institute for Business Management Skills Trng and Assessment Center (15 slots), San Nicolas de Tolentino Learning Center with 16 slots.
STEP also kas Driving NC II offered at Crispa Tech Training (15 slots), SBR TETC (17 slots); Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II at Bohol Northern Star College (20 slots); Bread and Pastry Production NC II at Rainbow’s End Arts and Crafts Trng (15 slots), Dumaguete Christian Technical School (65 slots); and Cookery NC II for Bohol Tech Voc (16 slots) and Joanne School of tech (16 slots).
RESP, is a government scholarship that goes with the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program and is into the ricer technologies and its extension services.
Scholarships include Rice Machinery Operations NC II for PTC Bilar (50 slots), Small Engine System Servicing leading to Small Engine Servicing NC II for 50 slots for PTC Bilar, and Farmers Field School for Production of Inbred Rice, Seed Certification and Farm Mechanization for Labonite Family Farm at 250 slots and another 250 slots for PTC Pilar.
Last among TESDA scholarships is the UAQTEA which hopes to equalize the opportunities for those who could not get to the free college.
Among its tech voc courses offered are Driving NC II for PTC Tubigon (36 slots), PTC Pilar (25 slots), PTC Jagna (31 slots), PTC Inabanga (25 slots) and PTC Bilar (12 slots); Dressmaking NC II for PTC Tubigon (24 slots); Tailoring NC II PTC Tubigon (12 slots); Bread and Pastry Production NC II for PTC Tubigon (32 slots); Organic Agriculture Production NC II for PTC Pilar (75 slots), PTC Jagna (20 slots); Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC III for PTC Pilar (75 slots); Masonry NC II for PTC Inabanga (50 slots); Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II for PTC Bilar (20 slots); and Rice Machinery Operations NC II for PTC Bilar (10 slots). ORGANIC FARMING COURSE. TESDA is also offering organic farming courses to interested individuals who opt to go for integrated diversified organic farming as a means of strengthening food security especially for health conscious tourists.
