Bohol, 10 LOGIC sites pledge to
Uphold building integrity circles

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Feb 20 (PIA) – Commitments to continue efforts to institute measures that bring in local government integrity circles (LOGIC) to constantly reform cumbersome processes continue to resound across 11 pilot provinces who have seen increased competitiveness ratings, as the three-year project comes to an end.

The three year project funded by the Konrad Adenueur Stiftung (KAS) and the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECCI) finally closed its financial books, marking the end of the project that showed that investing in human infrastructure is equally beneficial as with hard infrastructure for project beneficiary sites.

Piloted in 3 Luzon provinces, 5 provinces in the Visayas and 3 provinces in Mindanao, the project implementers pushed for the logic of building cultures of integrity through multi sector collaborative consultation as a strategy for good governance.

At the projects online exit conference billed as Logic Final Conference held February 17, 2021, Boholano LOGIC teams from the towns gathered at the Doljo Grand Ballroom of Modala Resort, to join the pilot provinces in exchanging success stories in building integrity circles in their respective areas.

“We commit to continue in upholding the highest commitment in building a culture of integrity in all our dealings in local governance,” pledged Davao del Norte representative, in the event with provinces connected among each other by simultaneous broadcast.

For South Cotabato, their building of integrity circles has become their strategy for creating jobs, which again turned out as a factor for good governance.

For Negros Occidental, the integrity circles becomes the tool to break the vicious cycle of corruption which weakens the bureaucracy, and degrades the rule of law, leading to underperformance and then the want cycle, according to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

In Guimaras, local government services are now measured according to the local integrity processes set up as a system of service delivery.

Elsewhere in Surigao del Norte, Ilo-ilo, Cebu, Bataan and Benguet, the same messages continue to echo and prayers for continued funding from KAS and EECI resound as local governments see the essence of good governance defined by no less than its constituents.

In Bohol, Bohol Investment Promotions Center head Maria Fe Dominese, whose office was the anchor for LOGIC’s pilot towns in Bohol.

“We will commit to continue advocating and building integrity to enhance the enabling environment for business to attract more investments, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities,” she shared as a commitment to LOGIC as heard across the 11 provincial project sites.

Not an amateur to multi-sectoral collaboration and cooperation for local development having had the Governance on Local Democracies Project years back, Bohol IPC chief knows the key roles of sectors in crafting better processes, them being the consumers of government services.

“We will continue to work with Local Government Units and collaborate with the private sector through the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Non-Government Organizations through Bohol Alliance of Non-Government Organizations on the implementation of streamlined and harmonized procedures and in embracing integrity as a habit and culture in the workplace, Dominese promised.
