Bohol Capitol closed anew for disinfection

TAGBILARAN CITY, April 29 (PIA) -- Consistent with the aggressive efforts of curtailing the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) virus especially in workstations, the Bohol Provincial Capitol was closed anew for a thorough disinfection by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

Pursuant to Gov. Arthur Yap’s order, work is suspended on April 29 and April 30, 2021, at the Provincial Capitol Building including its extension offices in Tagbilaran City.

All Capitol-based employees were advised to follow the work-from-home arrangement during the said schedule, except for those assigned in field or in emergency response.

Regular operations at the capitol will resume on May 3, 2021.

In a radio interview on Thursday morning, the governor said the increasing COVID-19 virus infection among Capitol employees prompted the two-day closure for disinfection.

As of Thursday, a total of 51 employees of the Provincial Capitol tested positive for COVID-19.

The COVID-stricken Capitol employees included 17 from the General Services Office; 17 from the Provincial Treasurer’s Office; Provincial Accounting, 5; Provincial Budget Office, 6; Governor’s Office, 4; and 1 each from the Vice Governor’s Office and Bohol Environment and Management Office.

On Thursday morning, the province recorded 114 new COVID-19 cases out of the 551 swab samples processed at the molecular laboratory of Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) in Tagbilaran City.

As of 7:00 a.m. on April 29, Bohol recorded a total of 2,684 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,809 recoveries and 40 deaths.

On April 23, 2021, both the Bohol Provincial Capitol and the Tagbilaran City Hall was closed for disinfection as part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as some employees of both government buildings tested positive for the virus.

The Bohol provincial government has reiterated its appeal to strictly follow health protocols as cases in the province continue to surge. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
