Bohol vaccination now at
17% of total population
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Oct 29, (PIA) –Nearly eight months into its vaccination roll-out, Bohol has accomplished by fully vaccinating 17.24% of its total population, as of October 27, 2021.
As to the latest Corona virus disease (COVID) Vaccination Report which the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) for the management of Emerging Infectious Disease, it showed that two doses of the vaccines to give protection to residents against the viral disease, have reached top 240,430 residents.
BIATF however pegged a different number of target population, not the real and recent census data which the Philippine Statistics Authority shared in its May 2020 census on population.
Instead of using 1,394,329 which is the general population in Bohol as to the PSA, where its 70% is 976,030, Bohol Emergency Operations Center (EOC), the base of operations of the Provincial Vaccination Program is still targeting 961,871.
The EOC data, which is 14,159 persons less than the PSA data, naturally raises its accomplishment rate.
Nevertheless, BIATF spokesperson Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez said the target population is not fixed and may yet increase anytime.
Using the OEC data shared by the BIATF, the current accomplishment rate would be 24.99%.
Until Oct 27 too, the number of individuals given the initial anti-COVID vaccine is 238,165, or another 17.08%.
Using the EOC data, BIATF vaccination accomplishment for the initial dose comprises 24.76%.
With most of the two dose type vaccines needing 21 to 28 and even longer days between jabs, in a month, Bohol should be able to accomplish nearly 35% of its general population.
The BIATF, using the EOC data also said that to date, Bohol has since received 740,932 doses of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Pfizer, Moderna and Sinopharm double dose vaccines and single dose Johnson and Johnsons.
Until Oct 27, 478,595 of the vaccines have been administered, leaving Bohol with 262,337 vaccine doses on stockpile.
If, within the next month, no vaccine delivery arrives, Bohol would be left with only 24,172 doses.
This would be enough for only a couple of days.
The current vaccine supply at hand scenario becomes a bit bleak, with Gallares Hospital launching its vaccination program for 12 to 17 years old, Friday, October 29.
Even with this, the government is also urging adults especially senior citizens who have been at much greater risk, and persons with comorbidities to make use of the time to get to their nearest vaccination sites to get the free inoculations.
This, according to the Department of Health, does not only allow them to protect themselves but also the people in their households who could not be vaccinated as yet. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
