New COVID-19 cases in Bohol up amid Omicron scare
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Jan. 21 (PIA) -- Confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Bohol rose from two new cases on Jan. 19 to 102 new cases on Jan 20.
This as local health authorities tracked a new increase in cases from single digits in the first week of the year to three digits as recorded on Jan. 20.
According to data shared by the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infetious Diseases (BIATF) on Jan. 20, new cases in Bohol jumped from single to double digits until it shot up to 102 cases, the highest number of confirmed new cases in 2022.

On Jan. 13, there were six new cases followed by zero cases the next day.
But by Jan. 18, BIATF noted 17 new cases, that time when a local doctor reported the possibility of the Omicron virus here.
On Jan, 19, Bohol recorded two new cases, and on Jan. 20, the new confirmed COVID-19 cases jumped to102, the first triple digit recorded in 2022.
As to the BIATF COVID -19 Update, from the 203 swab samples processed on Jan. 19 at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital Moleculra Laboratory and the Bohol Containerized Molecular Laboratory, the most cases in one location is 27 in Tagbilaran City.
Candijay and Dauis both recorded eight new cases; Baclayon had seven; Antequera, Cortes and Panglao had five cases; and Inabanga, Loay, Mabini and Sagbayan each had three cases.
Carmen, Clarin, Loon, Pilar, Sikatuna and San Miguel have two new cases each while Alicia, Anda, Bien Unido, Bilar, Corella, Dimiao, Gracia Hernandez, Getafe, Guindulman, Pres Carlos P. Garcia, Sierra Bullones, Talibon and Valencia each have one new case.
From a total of 189 active cases on Jan. 13, Bohol now has 616 active cases, a 325% increase in cases.
That same day, cumulative COVID-19 cases reached 20,665 of the total of 117,792 swab samples sent for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction tests.
This translates to 5.7% positivity rating, or about 5 for every 100 tested for the disease would most likely turn out positive.
Of the 20,665 confirmed cases, 19,466 Boholanos who fell ill with the dreaded disease have recovered. (RAHC/PIA7 Bohol)
