Towns with least-vax-accomp
Priority in next vaccine drive

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, July 8 (PIA) – For whatever their reasons maybe, the Provincial Government and the Department of Health (DOH) in Bohol would be prioritizing the upcoming massive vaccination for Coronavirus Disease protection in Bohol towns that have remained at the bottom of the vaccine rollout.

During the recent Bohol Inter-Agency Task Force on the management of Emerging Infectious Disease (BIATF) Meeting, authorities united in pulling an ambitious feat for Bohol, to cover as much of the senior citizens and insulate them against a fatal bout against the disease, and to make sure over 600K Boholanos would have been given COVID booster shots on or before October 8, 2022.

Data from the DOH showed that even Bohol in general has not been able to breach the 70% vaccination accomplishment, getting only about 62% of its target population vaccinated to date.

And shared at a time when the data from the Emergency Operations Center here would show a COVID active case two-week growth rate of 100 percent in the past two weeks, the massive vaccination would be possibly the most effective measure, according to health authorities at the BIATF.

Of Bohol towns, after a year and three months of vaccinations, only 20 towns and a city step over the 70% vaccination accomplishment, while the remaining 28 towns continue to dwindle below the determined herd-immunity threshold.

Hanging at the bottom of the list with the most dismal vaccination accomplishment is Buenavista, with 49.21%, Carmen with 53.69%, Talibon, with 54.75%.

Cortes with 55.26%, Getafe with 58.31%, Inabanga with 58.50%, Bilar with 59.95%, Dagohoy with 60.82%, Alicia with 60.93%, Guindulman with 61.04%, Bien Unido with 61.98%.

Dauis with 62.96%, Baclayon with 63.47%, Catigbian with 63.61%, Danao with 63.81%, Trinidad with 64.86%, Candijay with 65.01%, Balilihan with 65.09%, Sierra Bullones with 65.24%, Loon with 65.61%, Mabini with 65.95%.

Ubay with 66.09%, Antequera with 66.49%, Carlos P. Garcia with 68.20%, Clarin with 69.14% and Maribojoc with 69.48%.

As this progressed, while BIATF clusters are back on the drawing board for another round of massive vaccination campaigns, Capitol leaders are calling for the re-imposition of strict and proper wearing of face masks, practice of social distancing and stricter port of entry vaccination status inspections while the new strategy could be presented.

In the meantime, City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc said that their vaccination continues at the malls on weekdays, as the Capitol has also ended its fixed vaccination site at the Bohol Island State University.

Pending a new venue for a fixed vaccination, the BIATF has approved a suggestion to put up a vaccination site at the old Tagbilaran City Airport, the hub of activities for the Sandugo Festival this July.

With the Sandugo Festival season, Capitol has also announced it will re-impose a strict vaccination card inspection for entry at the Sandugo Festival grounds, with checkers posted at the venue entrance.

Apart from denying entry of unvaccinated people at the main venue of the festivities, a strict face mask and social distancing would also be implemented inside the old airport grounds, despite its being a huge open space, advanced Bohol Isang Dugo Foundation festival interim coordinator Ana Loinda Saluan. 16 DAILY FLIGHTS. With more people coming to Bohol according to PDRRMO Anthony Damalerio, Bohol officials think it is proper to revisit the anti-COVID policies that work, and re-implement them strictly so Bohol could put up its defenses while enlarging protection against COVID through a mulled massive vaccination drive in July. With Damalerio here are nurse Neil Oclarit, Ana Loinda Saluan and Capitol media official Ric Obedencio. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
