Electricity, water now available
at NHA’s gov’t housing in Dauis
CORTES, Bohol, Sept 3 (PIA)—Servicemen who have availed of the government housing units at Saint Michael Village in Songculan, Dauis can now have their utilities going, this as the National Housing Authority (NHA) succeeded in arranging for these utilities with local providers.
The move opens for 500 beneficiaries of the government offered low-financing housing units the opportunity to finally move in, after many have refused to occupy these houses due to the untapped power supply and water services, for years.
NHA Bohol District Manager Grace V. Solis bared this less than a year after the NHA Field Office in Bohol arranged and facilitated the connection.
Now that water and power is available, all beneficiaries need to do is get to the NHA Field Office to get their Certificates of Award, which is needed for the power and water companies to tap them into the services, Solis said.
With the document, they can go to Bohol Electric Cooperative (BOHECO) to apply for membership, attend the membership seminar, which is also needed for members to be given the connection, she instructed.
The same Certificate of Award from the NHA would be needed by the Dauis Waterworks System to secure for them, a water connection.
The government low-cost housing in Saint Michael is a Philippine National Police / Armed Forces of the Philippines housing, initially set for the officers and men of the PNP and the AFP, but was later opened for officers and men of the Bureau of Fire Protection and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
For the beneficiaries who are members of the PNP and the AFP, and the uniformed personnel pay little after a government subsidy helped them out in their payments.
According to the NHA, the screening for beneficiaries happen at their respective service coordinators and those screened beneficiaries get to the NHA list, for unit assignment.
In the first few years after project completion, the lack of basic utilities discouraged member beneficiaries, that many did not proceed to move in their housing units.
Besides, the single room attached dwellings without furnishing, is still way too small to some.
However, with the occupy phenomenon happening in NHA projects by interest groups, NJA Joint Resolution No 2 allowed in them, the low earning government employees to benefit from the housing program.
As such, some municipal government employees of Dauis qualified. Solis said. (RAHC/PIA-7/Bohol)
EMPOWERED. Government servicemen from the uniformed service and are beneficiaries of the AFP/PNP Housing Project in Songculan can now move in following the successful facilitation by the NHA for the electric and water connection to the housing units. These attached single-storey dwellings can be upgradeable with a loft where two decent sized bedrooms can be built. (PIABohol)
