Aris bullish in Bohol as
magnet for investments
with biz’ partnerships
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, July 27, (PIA) –Still bullish in his intention to bring investments which could help the province become a thriving hub of business opportunities, and then propel Bohol to a better foothold to work for its development, Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado welcomes the businessmen delegates and entrepreneurs to the 32nd Visayas Area Business Conference (VABC) now at the Bellevue Hotel Pavillion, July 27.
While personally welcoming the delegates to the VABC comprised of 32 local chambers of commerce and industry in the Visayas as well as officials of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the governor also dangled on the prospect of investing in Bohol’s 47 towns and city especially when these are bound to see the influx of tourists, scientists, educators, researchers and cultural students attracted to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s designation of Bohol as a part of the global geo-parks network.
The governor, who languishes under the shadow of his father, who is widely acknowledged as the man who swung into the momentum of development for Bohol, made sure that his first day in office a year ago, would be marked by an Investors’ Forum, to italicize his economic priorities in beating poverty through an investment-driven economy.
Now with the refocused intent of making Bohol climate smart and economically resilient, the governor said the conference happening in time for the Sandugo, fosters connection and cooperation for the Visayas businessmen, investors, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to shed light on the opportunities and challenges brought about by technology and innovation.
The conference could also become a venue for sharing of ideas and business models on the use of technology, innovation and governance in bringing about climate smart and resilient tourism, which has been proven engines of development for the climate-change-vulnerable province.
Taking “Exploring new economic frontiers in technology, governance and innovation, as conference theme, the governor commented that the gathering may celebrate the achievements of the business sector in the Visayas area, over the past years, but should also open up opportunities and challenges brought about by technology and innovations in the economy, and how this impacts on the relationship between industry and government and how we can all benefit from it.
And as digitalization opens and closes opportunities for most, it is “shaping our future, as we strive to become a smart and resilient province,” according to the governor.
As the 32nd annual gathering of business in the Visayas proves strong commitment to developing innovative business models, it is technology, and innovation that are the driving forces in improving business operations and digital technologies, that help bring out inclusive and sustainable growth and operational efficiency in businesses, Department of Trade and Industry Officer in charge Vierna Teresa Ligan also told businessmen at the event.
She cited the strong push to advance technology and innovations in all processes and business operations, allow people to benefit from innovations and do away with obsolete systems, to further fuel productivity in agriculture, industry and even services.
According to the governor, under Bohol’s strategic change agenda, the province vows to embrace Information Communication and Technology to create a business enabling environment that encourages investors to set up shop in Bohol’s 47 towns and a city.
With the new opportunities in pursuit of climate smart agriculture and sustainable tourism, the governor seeks the continued partnership with the business sector, make these efforts result in resilient and competitive province making Bohol a significant player in the national stage.
And with this partnership with the business sector, the DTI hopes to see micro-small and medium enterprises get the guidance from its big brothers at the VABC, who can help scale up their production, develop their capacities and improve relationships with the critical players in their value chains.
