DepED PHLPost NTM stamps
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Sept 6 (PIA) –Bohol gets another free promotional leap, care of the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and the Department of Education (DepED) in their unveiled stamps commemorating the National Teachers’ Month (NTM) September 5 - October 5, 2023.
The commemorative stamp, features a stylized cartoon of a male teacher holding a picture of the Bohol tarsier, with three pupils looking up on the image.
Along with Bohol which is privileged to be in the 40,000 stamps which the PHLPost printed for this year’s NTM are Albay which shows a mathematics teacher with a pupil and Cagsawa ruins and Mayon Volcano in the background, a male Muslim teacher showing to two pupils a pearl in a shell and a colorful vinta in the background and an Ifugao pupil offering a teacher with a flower with Banaue Rice Terraces in the background.
Fresh from another successful participation at the Travel Mart 2023 in Manila, Bohol, led by Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, has been relentless in announcing Bohol’s reopening and its revitalized tourism to hasten the province and its people’s recovery from the economic slump brought about by the pandemic.
In his welcome message, the governor cited the convergence of agencies as a way of commemorating and highlighting the teachers’ pivotal role in the society, as the strong pillars strengthening the bedrock of families, communities and the Filipino nation.
Unveiled during the Visayas leg of the NTM 2023, the four panel stamps depict the elements of Philippine culture that are embedded in the lively scenes of teachers sharing knowledge with students to learn more about our country's famous tourist spots, PHLPost, through Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer Luis D. Carlos.
This small and significant piece of art encapsulates the essence of PHLPosts’ goal of honoring and celebrating our educators who shape the nation.
“Ito po ay simbolo sa malalim na pagkikilala ng dedikasyon at panatag na paggabay nga mga guro na humuhubon sa kaalamang nga mga kabataan", Carlos said.
Unveiled in Bohol September 5, 2023, at the Bohol Wisdom School gymnasium during the kick-off ceremonies highlighting the month-long celebration of National Teachers’ Month, the stamps, which feature Bohol has also excited the governor who, in behalf of the 1.3 million Boholanos who are eager to show the warmth of our hospitality, also offered to visiting teachers the beauty of Bohol landscapes and its islands.
The stamps also snugly fit into the NTM subtheme Batang Makabansa, Bansang Makabata, in celebration of the excellence and greatness of Filipino teachers who are partners in shaping the nation.
PHLPOst CEO Carlos told the teachers that the playful cartoonized stamps of teachers interacting with their learners, are all illustrated by Beth Parrocha, a founding member of Ang INK or the Ilustrador Ng Kabataan, the Philippines' first and only organization of illustrators dedicated to children's illustration, according to reports.
“Through the NTM Commemorative Stamps, we pay tribute to our beloved and hardworking teachers who play an important role in shaping the future of the students under their guidance and care,” Postmaster General Luis Carlos said.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Together4Teachers.” The digit “4” represents the 4As of Gratitude Framework: Attention, Approval, Admiration, and Appreciation.
The objective is for all to come together as a community to celebrate and express gratitude for teachers, using the 4As as its guide.
With Postmaster General Carlos during the unveiling were DepED Undersecretary Revsee Escobedo and Assistant Secretary Francis Ceasar Bringas, who also signed the first day covers of the commemorative stamps. (PIA-7/Bohol)
