BFP pours P700M+ infra
for RFTC, fire stations

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol March 22 (PIA) – After the ceremonial turn-over of the first modern fire station in the Visayas late last year, the Bureau of Fire Protection in Bohol tends to get P740 million more in key state of the art standard designed infrastructure, from the government.

In the next few months, two more typical state of the art P25 Million fire stations are to rise Candijay and Tagbilaran, bared Fire Superintendent Raul Bustaliño, at the Kapihan sa PIA.

Guesting Philippine Information Agency Bohol’s weekly radio forum streamed live over the internet and on delayed broadcast via DyTR AM, Supt Bustaliño announced.

Biggest among the BFP projects is a P600 million Regional Fire Training Center (RFTC) to rise in a 1.3 hectare lot donated by the local government unit of Ubay, here.

We were given support from Central Visayas, Bustaliño pointed out, adding that the center would cater to firemen recruits from Region 6, 7, 8, and 10.

And as training center, the compound would be developed with training ground, tri-skiIls area, living quarters, mess hall, administrative offices and its own fire station, he said.

While the Bureau of Fire Protection is still in the process of building typical fire stations, those infrastructure costs about P10 million.

This excludes the lot donation from the host Local Government Units, and other potential additional support like building permits and licenses.

This too as the BFP, under the leadership of Bustaliño and the help of Boholano Fire Chief Louie Puracan gets the province in the receiving end of equipment and infrastructure to help fire fighters cope with the demands of a rising tourism destination and its consequential economic boom to supply the need for millions of tourists.

Bohol leads Central Visayas in the construction of new typical and standard state-of-the-art fire stations, the official said.

Of the 47 towns and one city, 22 towns have already typical standard state of the art fire stations, and all of the 47 fire stations received fire-fighting equipment and apparatuses from the 100 equipment we received recently, according to the fire marshal.

He also announced the commencement of the construction of typical fire stations in Lila, Dimiao, Duero, Baclayon, Corella and Balilihan, as well as the groundbreaking of the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal in a government lot in Cortes.

The OPFM, which broke ground last February 21 in a 2,000 square meter lot, would be costing the government some P30M and comes with its own fire station, Supt Bustaliño said.

Presently, the OPFM is housed at the second floor of the abandoned old airport Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Air Traffic Offices.

Recently too, the BFP sent to Bohol two ambulance services for emergency medical rescue which is among the BFP tasks. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
COPING WITH DEMANDS IN FIRE PROTECTION. Owing to the mushrooming establishments in tourism town of Panglao, the BFP keeps up with its state of the art fire stations and fire support training teams. Nearly half of Bohol’s towns now own standard fire stations, fire-fighting equipment and dedicated personnel to respond to fire alarms. (PIAbohol)
HIGH ANGLE RESCUE. With high rise buildings now becoming a norm, Bohol BFP empowers communities by training them in high angle rescue, something that requires special equipment and pure determination to go overboard via rappel to safety. (PIABohol)
