SSS tags 14 erring employers
in simul CV RACE operations

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol March 22 (PIA) – Social Security System (SSS) tags 14 establishments which have been remiss in putting up their contributions during the two-day simultaneous RACE in Cebu and Bohol, March 20-21.

The SSS team handed 15 days ultimatum to 7 delinquent employers from Cebu and another 7 from Bohol, who missed paying their contributions from 2016 onwards.

The simultaneous two-days of operations aim to remind and tap the back of erring business owners to get back on line and make sure they paid for their employees contributions so their workers can enjoy the benefits accorded to all contributing members, especially during their hard times.

SSS Vice President for the Visayas Atty. Alberto Montalbo, who led the team in Bohol said while most people understand RACE as the SSS’ way of rooting out those employers who evade from paying their obligatory contributions, they are now in for the Relief Afforded to Challenged Employers (RACE).

The SSS recognizes that many establishments are still on their way up and have not fully recovered yet, so that we come in to offer them easy-installment terms for their delinquencies. All they need to do is go immediately to the nearest SSS branch office and pick on terms of payments for their defaulted remittances and penalties, Atty Montalbo explained.

Done with Tagbilaran City, Dauis and Panglao, the SSS this time raced to Carmen, Pilar and Ubay and handed notice of violations for non-remittance of contributions to a retail store, a barbershop, a water refilling station, a gasoline station, a department store, a private school and a restaurant for non-coverage and non-registration to the SSS.

In Bohol, all evaded contributions payments totaled P1,146,108, broken down as P700,422 in principal amount and some P445,686.24 in penalties.

SSS Accounts Officer Jon Ace Aparicio said all the 6 establishments have received notices of violations prior to the visit, and some have even availed of the easy installment terms, but again missed paying.

These are just some of the establishments tagged for this operation, and there will be more operations in the next days, according to the SSS.

Then officially called Run After Contribution Evaders, the government has since shifted its campaign to goading employers to keep their accounts updated, this would help their employees get the benefits due them, and at the same time continue its support to micro, small and medium enterprises, explains Bohol SSS Field Office chief Engr Alieta Basubas.

During the RACE, SSS Vice President for Central Visayas Atty Alberto Montalbo reminded employers with still unsettled accounts at the SSS especially in submitting their collected contributions from their employees to start fixing their systems.

Of the 7 establishments the SSS tagged in Bohol, the delinquencies sum up to denied benefits of some 30 employees who have been religiously paying their share of the security benefits that they were supposed to avail.

For those employers tagged, SSS said they only have 15 days to visit the SSS or if it remains unsettled, then they would be forced to elevate the case to the SSS legal department, where the establishment owners would now be obliged to spend for litigation. (rahc/PIA_7/Bohol)
RACING ON. The SSS RACE Team led by Atty. Alberto Montalbo visited 7 establishments in Bohol in a day to remind them of their obligation to remit their employees’ contribution. All visited employers of these establishments received Notices of Violations and a 15-day ultimatum to settle or be sued. The team however offered relief to these economically challenged employers, with easy payment terms. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
FOR THE EMPLOYEES BENEFITS. The SSS Race Team rounded up establishments whose employers defaulted in paying the collected employees share for their security benefits. Their failure actually denies their employees social benefits, so that the SSS has to make sure these are available during the employees hard times. (PIABohol)
