Alicia trail run 2018 at TAPP
Feb 10, registration ‘til 26th
TAGBILARAN CITY, January 6, 2018 (PIA)—Trail runners and cross country mountain bikers are never choosy about their race tracks.
But if they hit the trails of one of Bohol’s most spectacular views of rolling hills and sea of clouds, it should help us showcase our new tourism site, Alicia Mayor Marnilou Ayuban said, while revealing about this year’s Foundation Anniversary highlights.
The Alicia Panoramic Park (TAPP) at Cambaol Alicia, Bohol, some 106 kilometers from Tagbilaran opens its trails to endurance trail runners on February 10, Saturday where runners are expected to pound the trails obscured by fog in a race threading through a sea of clouds.
The hundreds of hectares of rolling hills at TAPP is among Bohol’s newly rumoured perfect camp site as the campers are treated with scenes like the sea of clouds in Mount Pulag, only this entails a short hike.
Already an established mountain bike park and home to the annual Kinatkatay sa Binabaje mountain bike races, TAPP has also an annual dirt-bike challenge, which makes the train run race the third endurance test the hills pose.
Now picked as a the race course for the TAPP Trail Run 2018, the park’s cattle herder’s trails become the race course for 21km, and 5 km trail runs that wind around the hills from The Farm and back, says Alicia Information and Tourism Officer Godelia Lumugdang.
The trail is basically single track and follows the ridges of TAPP and offers gradual to 45 degree ascents, sand loamy packed earth, natural obstacles like tree roots, rocks and some steep descents but generally uphill and downhill single tracks, Lumugdang, an experienced trail hike and mountain climber said.
Runners for the 21K challenge assemble at the starting line on Saturday at 5:00 AM, and await for instructions prior to the gun start at 5:30.
