13 super health centers for Bohol
in next 2 years, says Sen Bong Go

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, July 20, (PIA)—In the next two years, Bohol would be seeing 12 other super health centers, assure Senator Christopher Lawrence Bong Go, during his recent visit to Bohol, July 17.

Speaking to a sizable crowd of barangay officials and health care workers, peace keeping officers and beneficiaries of the government’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations, the young senator, who sits as the Senator Committee on Health, said they have allocated for 13 mega health centers in Bohol as part of the over 300 mega health facilities which would be built all over the country in 2023 and another 300 in 2024.

The super health facility, according to the senator is one much bigger than the health center but smaller than a hospital, but would be very crucial in addressing the gap in the country’s health care needs.

“Ito’ng super health center, marami rin ang itatayo sa buong Pilipinas, higit 600 at 13 sa Bohol itatayo na super health center,” he announced.

This super health center is a medium type of polyclinic, smaller than a hospital and bigger than rural health units.

The center operates as a birthing center, dental services, laboratory, x-ray and with the potential for expansion by adding other services.

Tagbilaran City, owing to its exemplary vaccination accomplishment against coronavirus disease, earned a slot among the 13 facility packages for Bohol.

Ground breaking for the first of these promised facilities happened weeks ago in Tagbilaran City, which, under the leadership of City Mayor Jane Yap, was also able to seek more to enhance the service of the super health center package.

According to city mayor Yap, the Tagbilaran City Super Mega Health Center is a three-storey building and a one-stop-shop health facility where Tagbilaranons can readily avail themselves of various health care services and facilities under one roof.

The super Health Center would have facilities and manning power for an x-ray, ultra sound, Electro cardio gram (ECG), two-dimensional echocardiography (2D ECHO) and a computerized tomography (CT) scan which combines a series of X-ray images taken from different angles around your body using a computer to compose the whole image.

It will also feature the first ever government owned and operated physiochemical laboratory in the province of Bohol, Mayor Yap said in her recent State of the City Address.

And with the city’s efforts, the new facility rising near the City Fire Station in Dao, this will also have a Dialysis Center which will have an initial space for the operation of 10 dialysis machines once the center will be operational, the lady mayor said.

In all these, the senator emphasized accessibility as a key pillar of super health centers initiative, stressing the importance of bringing health care services closer to the people, especially in areas where access to quality medical care remains a challenge.

By establishing super health centers throughout the country, the government aims to ensure that every Filipino, regardless of their location, can avail themselves of essential health care services without the burden of long-distance travel or prohibitive costs, the senator added.

Aside from Tagbilaran the senator said funds have been allocated for the construction of these type of health centers in Buenavista, Candijay, Dauis, Sagbayan, Talibon, Antequera, Balilihan, Bien Unido, Carmen, Panglao and Ubay. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
