P10M in 4 drug operations
mark PD Degay’s first days

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)— Hitting the ground running, newly installed Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) head Police Colonel Patricio Degay stepped on the gas for its anti–illegal drugs drive, a day after the turn-over of command ceremonies at the Camp Dagohoy grounds.

And with the expressed order, municipal police stations in partnership with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and BPPO succeeded in confiscating nearly 1.5 kilos of suspected shabu in four different operations, all in three days.

In the very early morning of September 20, or a day after the new police provincial director was installed, the PIU and BPPO confiscated some 520 grams of illegal drugs with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) standard street price of P3.5 million, on Purok 6, San Isidro Calape.

Also arrested was a high value individual who has been in the PNP watchlist, said Col Patricio Degay, during the Provincial Peace and Order Council Meeting Tuesday, September 23

On the same day, at about midnight, a team from Balilihan Municipal Police Station, along with BPPO conducted operations in Purok 4, Del Carmen Sur and arrested yet another HVI and PNP watchlist personality.

The operation also netted 280 grams of suspected illegal drugs, valued by the DDB at 1.904 million, the newly installed top cop in Bohol reported.

Suits against Section 5 and 11, Article 2 of the Republic Act 9165 were subsequently filed against the suspects on that day.

The next day, September 21 at early dawn, in Purok 6 Catagbacan Norte, Loon, elements of the Loon Municipal Police Station with the BPPO again recovered 455 grams of dangerous drugs with a DDB street value of P3.094 million, while capturing an HVI and a police watchlist personality.

On September 22, With Dauis Municipal Police Station, the BPPO again arrested another HVI in the police watchlist during an operation in Purok 4, Totolan, Dauis, Col Degay who used to head Bohol’s traffic group added.

Confiscated along with the arrest was some 180 grams of suspected illegal drugs with a street value of 1.2 million.

From the three days of police operations then, authorities recovered some 1.5 kilos of illegal drugs and over P10 million in street value, illegal substances that could have flooded the streets here.

During the same joint Provincial Peace and Order Council and Anti Drug Abuse Meeting meeting, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agent said that they have identified four major drug supplies sources reaching the Philippines.

In the early 2000 to 2010, drugs in the country were largely supplied from China, but by 2025, supplies from the golden triangle countries have started reaching the country, PDEA Intelligence Agent Jordan Lunesa said.

The proliferation of controlled chemicals and its precursors have allowed Myanmar to build multiple shabu laboratories capable of producing tons of shabu, he added.

By this same year, another supply from the West African syndicates have started entering the western and eastern borders of the country.

Recently in fact, the Sinaloa Drug Cartel of Mexico has even reached the country, PDEA said. (PIABohol)
MORE SOURCES ARE ENTERING. PDEA intelligence Officer Jordan Lunesa said bulk of drugs enter the country by boat through the eastern and western borders, and are thrown into the sea with GPS trackers so the recipient syndicates can simply go out and track the goodies. Aside from China, the Golden Triangle countries, West African Syndicates and the dreaded Sinaloa Cartel are also expanding here. (PIABohol)
