Bohol retains 1st runner-up 
in Dumaguete CViRAA ‘19 

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, February 22, (PIA)—Bohol retains its second place or first runner up, in the recently concluded Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CViRAA) Meet, bowing out to powerhouse Cebu City again. 

Cebu Ninos had bagged a total of 78 gold medals, 62 silvers and 78 bronze medals as they assert their sports superiority in the region’s premier seedbed for the national games. 

Bohol however maintained its 47 gold medals, 65 silvers and 60 bronze medals to edge closer to the regional powerhouse which used to have 114 gold, 69 and 80 silver and bronze finishes in 2018. 

Bohol brought home 47-44-41 gold-silver and bronze in 2018. 

Bohol’s recent showing was anchored by 17 gold medals in the elementary and 30 champion slots in the secondary for the 47 glittering performance. 

Meanwhile, Tagbilaran City Division improved its seventh place finish last year when it exchanged places with Mandaue City as it slowly showed the fruits of its sustained sports programs. 

Tagbilaran City improved its 24-21-18 with a commanding 6 more gold medals at 30-17-21 medal count. 

For Bohol, athletics wonder child Juvell Alexa Matnog showed best finishes in the girl’s 1,500, 800 meter run, and 400 meter run in the elementary, while track star Adrian Cagas led the gold medalists in the secondary division with spectacular finishes in boys 1,500M run, 500 meters and as a team member in the 4 x 400 meters relay. 

Other top gold medal earners in the elementary include Celedonio Concha for the 1500M run boys and in the 4x400 meter relay, Eld Jazzy Macarine who picked gold in boys 100 meter run and the 4x100 meter relay, Jay Stuart Cavero for the boys 110 M hurdle and the 4 x 100 meter relay. 

James Camasura also brought home 3 gold medals for the 4x 100 relay and the 4x400 relay, and 400 M run while Kim Auriel Timtim (4x400M), Irene Joy Veloso (discuss throw), John Israel (boys high Jump) Rhian Mae Inoy (girls high jump) Jamerex Quillope, Jeffrey Bantilan shared the gold in the 4x400 relay and Karl Lorenz Ray Lasaca showed best in floor exercises. 

Other elementary gold winners are the sepak takraw team, Tim, Stephen Tumapos for Taekwondo Kyurogi and Shania Batulanon picked gold in Taekwondo Kyurugo girls. 

In the highs school division, other than Cagas, gold medalists include Marilou Caduyac for 1,500 M run girls, 3,000 M run for girls, Diana Rysiame Hurano for girls 100 M run, and as a team member for 4x400 meter relay, Augustine Hormilleja for 800 M run boys and 4x 400 meter relay boys, Genesis Millanes for for boys triple jump, and pole vault. 

Other gold winners were Elmer Tape for Full Contact arnis light weight, Ma. Christina Baja, Emily Diaz, Angelina Pereno sharing gold in 4x100 M relay, Vince Lloyd Tinay for 400 M hurdles, Jay Mekhail Hagupit for boys high jump, Lloyd Michale Valle, John Michael Zamora for 4x400 relay, Halro Bon Redulla for 2000 M walk, Charmie Dabon for 2000 M walk girls, Jetro Esito Boxing Youth boys, Gerwin Asilo Boxing, John Paul Simbajon for Floor exercises, and wrestling by Jobelle Pasadas. 

Other gold medallists are Honey mae Evlarosa or wrestling 60 KG, Jovan Dealagdon Wushu 42 KG, Raizah mae Molato Wushu 42 KG, Cyrelle James MosquedaWushu 45 KG, Desiree Geongson 45 KG Wushu, Roxan Soria for 48KG wushu and Ivan Magallanes, wushu 13-15 year old. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol) 

MARCHING IN. Tagbilaran City marches in closer to the top as they improve their CViRAA 2018 position a notch higher this year. Bohol retains its second place finish after four days of sports action.
