Tagbilaran City
undergoes validation for
the 2019 DSWD PANATA
GAPAS Award
TAGBILARAN
CITY, December 3 (PIA)--The Tagbilaran City Government has undergone field
assessment and validation as one of the shortlisted entries for the 2019 PANATA
GAPAS (Panata ko sa Bayan, Gawad Paglilingkod sa
Sambayanan) Award Search for Outstanding Local Government Unit (LGU)
Implementing Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) under Employment Facilitation
(EF) Track.
On November 28, 2019, the SLP National
Program Management Office (NPMO), represented by Mr. Arvin N. Obnasca and Ms.
Karen Kimberly B. Pedro conducted the assessment and validation to check and
verify the submitted Means of Verifications (MOVs) of the LGU that corresponds
to the 5 criteria set by the Central Office. These include representation and
participation; transparency and accountability; civic engagement; effectiveness
and equity; and sustainability.
In his opening message, Obnasca revealed
that the actual field assessment and validation will give an opportunity for
the qualified participants to show additional supporting documents that were
not included in the initial submission to strengthen the chances of winning the
entry.
Obnasca also explained the purpose of
holding the PANATA GAPAS Award.
“This is just one of the recognitions
that the DSWD Central Office will give to our partners, LGUs in particular, and
other partners who have been assisting us in the implementation of our programs
and services,” he said.
The City of Tagbilaran was nominated
for its consistent support provided to the DSWD-SLP since 2016 up to this date
through provision of training venues and additional financial capital to the
target beneficiaries.
During the courtesy call, City Mayor Hon. John Geesnell L. Yap II was grateful upon knowing
that the city has been shortlisted.
Obnasca has extended NPMOs
congratulations to the city for being part of the top 3 finalists. Winners will
be announced and awarded during the 69th
Anniversary of DSWD in January 2020. (DSWD)
