COVID-19 positive cases
TAGBILARAN CITY, June 8 (PIA) -- Two new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Bohol.
Gov. Arthur Yap in his Facebook post confirmed the two positive local cases in the province on June 4, 2020.
One was a patient of Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH), recorded as the first fatality and a resident of a barangay in Calape town.
The second case is a resident of Brgy. Dao in Tagbilaran City, and was admitted at a private hospital in the city.
“Mga kaigsuonang Bol-anon, karong hapon gipahibaw ta ni Dr. Mutya Macuno, ang hospital chief sa Gallares hospital, nga dunay pasyente nga nagpositibo sa RT-PCR test. Ang pasyente namatay sa unang adlaw sa admission apan ganiha lang niabot ang resulta sa iyang PCR test. Ug laing usa ka pasyente nga taga Tagbilaran ang nagpositibo pud sa PCR test. Ang maong pasyente nagpabilin nga gi-isolate sa hospital karon (To my fellow Bol-anon, Gallares hospital chief Dr. Mutya Macuni informed us this afternoon of the patient who tested positive during an RT-PCR test. The patient died on the upon admission but the PCR test result only came out today.
Another patient from Tagbilaran also tested positive during a PCR test. The said patient remains isolated now at the hospital),” said Yap in his Facebook page.
GCGMH chief of hospital, Dr. Mutya Macuno, on Thursday afternoon released a public advisory confirming that the COVID-19 positive patient was an 89-year old resident of Calape town admitted at the hospital on May 25.
He died on May 26 of severe myocardial infraction or heart attack secondary to community-acquired pneumonia.
The patient’s PCR test findings, which yielded a positive result, only arrived on June 4, according to Macuno.
Meanwhile, Allied Care Experts (ACE) Medical Center-Bohol released also an advisory confirming that the Tagbilaran resident who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently admitted in their isolation room and is now fully recovered.
In their respective public advisories, both GCGMH and ACE Medical Center assured the public that their hospitals are committed in managing COVID-19 cases in Bohol and have observed patient cohorting, standard staff quarantine procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for protection is followed according to strict infection control protocols from Department of Health (DOH) and World Health Organization (WHO).
Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II ordered on Thursday evening a lockdown in Purok 2, Brgy. Dao after learning that one of its residents admitted at ACE Medical Center tested positive for COVID-19.
This as authorities continue contract tracing and quarantine of people who were exposed to the positive case.
Calape Mayor Nelson Yu assured the public that necessary contract tracing and mandatory quarantine of close contacts have been done.
Yap also assured the Boholanos that the local government has put in place all necessary safety and health protocols to prevent further transmission of the virus and called on everyone to cooperate, support, and follow all health and safety measures. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
