Genpact Phils to open
call center opns here

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol April 26 (PIA) – If plans do not miscarry, a New York Stocks Exchange enlisted business process management (BPM) company is initially hiring some 200 to 300 Boholanos to man its call center operations here and serve its global clients.

This after Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, who has been bullish in selling Bohol as the next ideal location for information communication technology (ICT) and BPM location, personally accommodated the company, who sent a team led by Sunil Kumar, the company’s senior vice president and chief operating officer, in its previous scouting visits.

Bohol, which has finally been tapped to the national information superhighway with its robust fiber optic connection, has boosted its competitive and untapped talent pool, which Genpact finds greatly satisfying.

The visits, which ironed out the company’s assessment of the kind of available untapped ICT graduates, had also the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Capitol’s Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (BEDIPO), Bohol Employment and Placement Office (BEPO), the Bohol Information Communication Technology Council, as well as representatives of the academe, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, sitting with Genpact Philippines to see their requirements and restructure ICT competencies to suit to the needs.

Earlier during the meeting April 26, Genpact Philippines Global Hiring Leaders Ritu Bhatia as well as hiring leader Vishesh Raj said they are looking at hiring locals to man their seats here, and form part of the 25,000 strong manpower that Genpact keeps in the Philippines.

Present in over 30 countries and manned by over 125,000 people, Genpact started in 1997 as a business unit within General Electric, before separating as an independent company in 1995, bringing process expertise and unique DNA of lean management to companies.

Now serving clients in integrating Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Cloud, Data and Analytics, Experience, Technology, Customer Care, Finance and Accounting, Risk and Compliance, Sales and Commercial, Sourcing and Procurement, Sustainability, Supply Chain Management and Trust and Safety, Genpact has seen the kind of overflowing potentials for Bohol.

The team also appraised the local training institutions to ascertain sustainability and quality of graduates that could feed the future requirements of the company.

Beyond a robust fiber optic infrastructure, Bohol also keeps a competitive advantage in manpower’s proximity to leisure sites and interesting activities that could fill in the need of workers to unwind and loosen up after working a demanding shift.

“Bohol provides quality services at competitive costs in a resort environment that offers a high quality of life, BEDIPO head Maria Fe Dominise told the investors.

Capitol, in its press material said the company in fact is eyeing 3,000 hires with generous offer of competitive salary and other perks.

With the huge bulk of workers needed, BEPO head Ma. Vilma Yorong also said will encourage her network of public employment service officers to initiate job fairs to get updated lists of workers needing to land jobs with the incoming BPM company now inspecting a potential location for their hub.

Bohol also has a Philippine Export Zones Authority-registered business and information technology park, which could potentially host Genpact.

Bohol has already some few BPM companies, the biggest of them are Ibex and TaskUS, and with Genpact’s full operation, Bohol could slowly rise as an emerging and irresistible location for companies and outside of the province workers. (rahc/PIABohol)
