Narcs net P211M illegal
drugs since July 2022

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, May 31 (PIA)—In the last 20 months of relentless campaign on illegal drugs, narcotics agents and allied law enforcement operatives have seized a total of 31,120.11 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or most commonly called shabu.

According to data culled from Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the 31.120 kilograms, form part of the 1,115 anti-illegal drugs operations, since July 2022 to mid-May of 2024.

Tagged by the operatives as to Dangerous Drugs Board street value computations as reaching P211,616,748, the accomplishment in fact has been highlighted by bulk-seizures in the past months, according to Police Community Affair and Development Unit head Lieutenant Colonel Norman Nuez.

“We have seen how the present Capitol Administration is serious in implementing the program, something that motivated our drug teams into doubling up their efforts,” Camp Dagohoy chief Police Colonel Lorenzo Batuan said.

Through the Provincial Peace and Order Council, Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado has been giving out rewards for police teams successful drug operations.

The PPOC has funds, commonly called intelligence funds, which the administration can give out as rewards or motivation to get people on the move against illegal drugs.

At least, for PPOC members, this is the first time that intelligence funds are openly disbursed to show local support to the police operations.

“Information leading to the success of the operations is not cheap, and the police are getting huge help from the extra funds for these special operations,” Col Batuan added.

Since July 2022, right after the governor took his oath, among his first orders to the PDEA and the police was to dig into the anti-illegal drugs, and curb it, at least, to make it an insignificant threat to Bohol’s peace and order.

Also, since July 2022 until May 20 of this year, operatives with the help of concerned individuals in communities, have successfully tracked 1,258 persons both high value individuals and street level drug dealers and users and arrested them, based on the consolidated police reports.

The same Camp Dagohoy report showed that since July 2022 to December 2022, operatives have recovered 2,439.68 gram or a little over 2 kilos.

In 2023, total illegal drugs seized during police buy bust, raids or arrest warrant implementation reached 14,059.97 grams or over 14.05 kilograms of illegal substances.

This year, from January to May 20, operatives seized and recovered another 14,620.46 grams or 14.6 kilos in PDEA sanctioned police operations as well as PDEA organized campaigns.

Of the 2.43 kilos in 2022, police said based on the DDB street price, the haul reached P16.5 M worth of drugs taken off the streets.

In the entire 2023, the drug haul reached P95.6 while of the first five months of 2024, authorities recovered, P99.4 million worth of illegal drugs.

In fact, this week, local media who would represent Bohol invited by the PDEA and the regional Police Office to witness the destruction of some 3 kilos of illegal drugs, something the court ordered for destruction after samples of these drugs are already safekept in the crime laboratory in Bohol. STRETCHED CAPABILITY. Then impaired by pre-operational costs and mobilization in the country’s anti-illegal drugs campaign, Bohol Police chief Colonel Lorenzo Batuan shares appreciation to the PPOC for its novel incentive system, as this stretches the police operational funds to assure positive intelligence data leading to successful operations.
