Boholano places 3rd over-all

In IronMan 5150 in Panglao

BELLEVUE PANGLAO, Bohol July 14 (PIA)—A Boholano from Cortes stood to defend the pride and honor and snagged the third best time overall today, after another promising triathlete from Maribojoc could not defend his Ironman 5150 finish in 2023, for various reasons.

Paul Jumamil, wearing race bib no 514, finished the 1.5 kilometer swim, 40 kilometer bike and 10 kilometer run in 43 minutes and 39 seconds, pinning an average pace of 4.23.

Jumamil however did not wear the traditional Tribu Bol-anon blue and red lycra, as he has joined the Ironman’s most prolific team SND Tri Barracuda of Zamboanga.

Jumamil, who has also been playing professional after being sponsored for triathlon events, came 13 seconds after second place over-all and Baguio triathlete Joshua Alexander Ramos, in race bib 520, who clocked in at 41:38 with an average pace of 4:10.

Both Ramos and Jumamil shared the podium with top age group men over-all and race champion from Metro Manila, Irienold Reig Jr., on race bib 485, clocking in after completing the swim-bike-run and transitions course in 38:26 seconds, during the Sun Life Ironman 5150 at the Bellevue Hotel here in the resort town of Panglao.

All of the three top finishers are Filipinos.

In the same event last year, Jonathan Pagaura, from Maribojoc, placed fourth in the event topbilled by the country’s 2017 ASEAN Games Clark triathlon champion John Leerams Rambo Chicano.

Pagaura also came after Ramos, who placed third overall then, after SND Tri Barracuda legend Satar Salem, who slid back to fifth this year.

Pagaura, who said he could not properly train for the event due to work, however still joined the event in the mixed relay and came in Champions.

FIRST IN AGE GROUP, 3RD OVER-ALL.
