Bohol Task Force La Niña

TAGBILARAN CITY, July 7, (PIA) – Getting pro-active in the face of a 55 percent to 60 percent probability of an El Niña after March, 2024, Acting Governor Dionisio Victor Balite issues an Executive Order No 26, series of 2024 creating the Bohol Task Force for La Niña phenomenon, which shall meet every otgher week for proper updating.

He said, the Task Force would generally serve as the central multi-agency facility for effective, efficient and enhanced crisis response coordination, specifically in preparing for and mitigating the effects of the La Niña in Bohol.

Chaired by the Provincial Agriculturist and co-chaired by the Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Officer, the Task Force has the Provincial Engineer and its office as Vice Chair.

The Task Force is then tasked to formulate a comprehensive disaster preparedness plan for the effects of extreme rains brought by the phenomenon, monitor the implementation of this plan and conduct information, education and communication campaigns to educate the community about the phenomenon and how this can affect their lives.

Composed of national government as well as local government agencies, the Task Force La Niña also enlists the assistance and support of government and civil society in identifying funding sources and in the preparation and submission of agency and office reports.

The Executive Order, which was signed July 2, also put up nine working committees, who shall have focused functions.

These include Agriculture, Natural Resources and Water Management, Early warning system and information campaign, energy and power, Public works, consumer protection, social services, health and rescue and relief. (PIABohol)
