PBBM witnesses 3 NGAs hand out
P7M in cash aid, kits, scholarships

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol June 27 (PIA)—While President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. brings in goodwill to nearly 10,000 farmers, fisher folk and families affected by the long dry spell, on the side line, national government agencies with packages of assistance also turned over to beneficiaries with the president witnessing a total of PP7 worth of cash aid and kits.

Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex transformed itself into a tent city as 10,000 Boholano beneficiaries gather to witness the ceremonial turn-over of the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisher folk and their Families (PAFFF) with no less than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assisted by cabinet secretaries hand the assistance to 10 selected farmers and fisherfolk from Bohol and another 10 from Cebu.

But before the President and party turned-over the presidential assistance, top officials with the President checked on the ongoing government assistance programs to individuals, communities and peoples organizations implemented by national government agencies.

In Bohol, at least four government agencies with crisis assistance are concerned added more joy to the Bohoanos in crisis.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Director Vierna Teresa Chiu-Ligan said they picked 9 beneficiaries from Bohol’s rebel returnees who will get 25 kilos of rice each and voucher for P8,000, which are converted to actual grocery packs, all with a total value of P9,250.00. each.

This alone would total P83,250.00 for the morning ceremonial turn-over.

The 10 beneficiaries are just a small part of the 78 more families who have finally redrawn their way to peace, and for that, merited the assistance of the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) kits.

For the 78 more families, this would cost the government some P721,500.

Moreover, Dir. Ligan said additional funds are coming, so the department can extend the PPG to more Boholano families.

Until December, DTI is set to get P1.2M more for this project, she said.

Meanwhile, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) packs some P627,816 in training assistance and support funds to 20 beneficiaries of Organic Agriculture National Certification II.

Another 20 beneficiaries would also get starter toolkits for Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II at P15,000 each or P300,000.00

All in all, on that day, TESDA would be handling over, with the President witnessing, some P127,816.00, shares TESDA Bohol Provincial Director Carlito Quintano.

As to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Labor and Employment Officer Maria Eloida Cantona said the government hands over some P4,193,934.00 in livelihood grants to 4 people’s organizations ad tupad assistance to tow more groups of workers.

She said at least one of the 59 beneficiaries representing Pagsa Multi-purpose Cooperative of Dimiao which gets a total of P911,760.00 for their Lomboy and Bugnay Wine Processing, another 1 representing 33 beneficiaries of Alburquerque Calamay makers-Tagbilaran Port Vendors Association of Tagbilaran City which had P999,848.00 for their Calamay Production and Marketing also gets their cash assistance with the president witnessing the turn over.

Another beneficiary representing the 15 member beneficiaries of Kapunungan sa Mag-asinay sa Alburquerque in East Poblacion Alburquerque Bohol which got P99,990.00 for their salt-making (Rock Salt) Asin Tibuok and still another 1 representing the 26 beneficiary parents of child laborers of Catigbian, Bohol organized as Parent Workers Association sa Causwagan Norte which got P366,496.00 would also get their cash in a ceremonial turn-over with DOLE officials.

For its banner Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantages and Displaced workers (TUPAD) Program, Director Cantona said they are handing out the cash assistance forming as the salaries of the 14 displaced workers of Captain’s Peak in Sagbayan and 10 more beneficiaries representing the salaries of the 360 beneficiaries of the LGU Balilihan Disadvantaged workers, with the president and the country’s top officials witnessing.

Other than the DTI, DOLE and TESDA, other NGAs are also extending their assistance in ceremonial rites, but their data were not available as of this writing. (PIABohol)
