Bohol perpetuates CPG
Memory in CPG awards

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Nov 4 (PIA)—Boholanos remembered the Boholano educator, statesman, sports enthusiast, resistance leader, super achiever and renowned writer poet in President Carlos P. Garcia on his 128th birth anniversary by handing out recognitions to Boholanos who, like the late president, have without much of a flourish, excelled in their chosen fields.

President Garcia, who distinguishes himself as only Boholano president yet, is now feared to be slowly becoming only a historical annotation for the younger generation, that Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado and his administration believes citing Boholanos who have distinguished themselves in the fields that President Garcia had carved for himself. Helps perpetuate the memory of Bohol’s most illustrious son.

This year’s awardees for their significant achievements in the field of education were Schools Division Superintendents Dr. Evangel Luminarias CESO V, and City Division Superintendent Dr. Casiana Caberte CESO IV, in fitting perpetuation of President Garcia’s memory as an educator.

Himself an avid chess player and sports enthusiast, this Garcia memory is marked this year with distinguishing CPG awards Sports for track athletes Ma. Emely Balunan, Jhul Ian Cañalita, Liznie Delfino, and April Joy Alimpayan, swimmer Travis Deandre Malnegro, Olympian weightlifter Vanessa Sarno, and boxer Airo Saldua.

As a super achiever peaked by his becoming the country’s top leader, this Garcia distinction is remembered in professional board topnotchers in their respective licensure examinations like dentist Dr. Decharon Mulat, 9th Placer, criminologist Leziel Jucotmaya, 3rd Placer, real estate appraiser Maria Hazel Saniel, 6th Placer, social worker Alliah Dela Torre, 9th Placer, and fisheries technician John Rey Arancana, 5th Placer.

And as the Boholano president married a pharmacist in Leonila Dimataga, Bohol handed out citations to this year’s medical scholars now passing as physicians: Dr. Mian Antonette Simporios, and Dr. Glenn Butron.

A recognized poet and culture advocate, this CPG memory is retold this year in Professor and historian Jose Marianito Luspo for his contributions and dedication to preserving Bohol's rich cultural heritage.

For being a topnotch lawyer and excellent student, Garcia is also remembered in James Carl Nable, Martin Aero Balaba, and Rob Jasper Batausa, who became RoboMission JHS Category champions during the World Robot Olympiad held at Brescia, Italy.

Their coaches Luciano Bargaso, Joan Bravo, and Administrative Supporters Generosa Castillo and Lolita Kibir were also recognized during the ceremony.

As a dedicated public servant having been elected District 3 representative of the Visayas, this Garcia feat, Bohol remembers with awards in public service with a posthumous citation to Vice Governor Dionisio Victor Balite and Lupong Tagapamayapa evaluators: NGO worker Francis Bernard Batoy, police officer Restituto Calimpusan, Lesa Garcia, Sarahlyn Palaca, and Rex Romani Tocmo.

When Garcia worked for peace and silently led the resistance against the Japanese intruders, and he had a price on his head, this Boholanos commemorated with local peace keeping through the outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa awards for Cansibao, Valencia (Fourth to Sixth Class) and Taloto, Tagbilaran City (Component City). Meanwhile runners up were Tabalong, Dauis and Haguilanan, Catigbian (4th to 6th Class).

In governance as Garcia was noted for, Bohol handed out to barangays the Seal of Good Local Governance as national passers: to Cantiguib, Alburquerque; Badiang, Anda; Poblacion, Tambongan, Tubod in Candijay; Poblacion Centro, Clarin; Barangay Anislag, Cancatac, Poblacion, and Sambog in Corella; Basdio, Guindulman; Candulang, Lila; Calvario and Yanangan in Loay; and Manga in Tagbilaran City.

In keeping children safe, Bohol handed the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Government Units to Alburquerque, Antequera, Bien Unido, Calape, Catigbian, Corella, Getafe, Guindulman, Loay, Sevilla, Sikatuna, Tagbilaran City, Talibon, Trinidad, Tubigon, and Loboc.

"It should be our responsibility to ensure that his legacy of service to the nation lives on, reflecting our gratitude for everything he has done for our province and our country," Aumentado, who in his election inaugural message cited the Garcia influence in their political life, said.

He also added that even though President Garcia may not be around anymore, he believes that he would be proud of what Bohol has achieved over the years. (RAHC/PIA_7/Bohol)
