Tagbilaran gets another PEZA
registered 1.1 hectare IT hub
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, March 19 (PIA)—The dream of creating a multi-business process outsourcing center inches forward as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has designated some 1.1 hectares comprised in three parcels of land as Tagbilaran City’s second Special Economic Zone.
Now called the Tagbilaran Uptown Information Technology (IT) Hub 2, the new site sits next to the first Tagbilaran Uptown IT hub 1, along Rajah Sikatuna Avenue.
In an official act dated March 6, 2025, the president designated the three parcels of land and created from it Tagbilaran City’s second Philippine Economic Zone Authority’s (PEZA)-recommended Special Economic Zone in the Tagbilaran Uptown IT Hub 2 located at corner of H Zamora Street and Satellite Road, Barangay Dampas.
President Marcos, via Proclamation 821 created the new Special Economic Zone which consists of an area of 11,237 square meters, or a little over a hectare, for an IT park.
Earlier, on June 1, 2021, former president Rodrigo Duterte also issued Proclamation No. 1151.
The Duterte act, designated several parcels of land located along Rajah Sikatuna Avenue in Barangay Dampas, in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, as an Information Technology Park, pursuant to Republic Act 7916 as amended by Republic Act No. 8747.
The IT park had an aggregate area of 1.3866 square hectares, will later be called as the Tagbilaran Uptown IT Hub 1.
With the two IT Parks now, Bohol keeps a 2.5 square hectares of IT Park areas and for related services development.
Locating in a PEZA registered economic zone makes one eligible of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives including income Tax Holiday (ITH) of 4-7 years, the avail-ment of Special Corporate Income Tax (SCIT) rate of 5% or Enhanced Deductions (ED) for 10 years, for export oriented enterprises, explains Department of Trade and industry Bohol provincial Director Vierna Teresa Chiu-Ligan.
An agency attached to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), PEZA promotes investments and facilitates business operations for export-oriented manufacturing and service facilities within designated Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the Philippines.
For Domestic Market Enterprises, investors here can get Income Tax Holiday (ITH) of 4-7 years and avail-ment of Enhanced Deductions (ED) for 5 years, she adds.
Here in PEZA registered economic zones, investor locators get significant advantages like tax incentives, simplified import export procedures, access to world-class infrastructure and special arrangements for hiring foreign experts making it attractive for businesses, especially those focused on export-oriented industries, IT services, manufacturing, and logistics.
PEZA is primarily into attracting and supporting foreign and domestic investments in export-oriented industries by registering, granting incentives, and facilitating the business operations of investors within PEZA-designated SEZ.
In the case of Tagbilaran, as an emerging smart city in the country, city official have called for foreign and local investors to locate in the Tagbilaran Uptown IT hubs.

Tagbilaran Uptown IT hub 1 and 2 now have world-class, environment friendly; fully secured area perimeter with adequate, clean and uninterrupted power supply; adequate water supply; state-of-the-art telecommunications facilities; ready-to-occupy standard buildings; waste water treatment facilities; computer security and building monitoring system; banks, fire-fighting facilities and sports facilities.
