TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — In celebration of its 62nd founding anniversary, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in Central Visayas conducted a bloodletting activity on June 9 at the NIA Function Hall in Brgy. Dao, Tagbilaran City.
Organized in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross-Bohol Chapter, the activity aimed to address the critical need for blood in local hospitals and health facilities in the province.
The event collected a total of 34 bags of blood from NIA employees, representatives of partner agencies, and community members.
NIA Central Visayas Acting Regional Manager Antonio B. Gujeling emphasized the importance of blood donation.
“Each donation makes a significant difference—every bag collected has the potential to save lives,” said Gujeling.
Since the agency is celebrating 62 years of service, 62 grocery packages were distributed as a token of appreciation.
“This activity is our way of giving back to the community while celebrating NIA’s legacy of service,” Gujeling said.
One of the donors, Association of United Development Information Officers (AUDIO) Bohol member Bruce Gideon Zabala, said his blood donation experience was smooth as the medical staff and facilitators were amiable and the venue was not too crowded.
“It has been one of my healthy habits since college to donate a bag or two of my blood either during emergencies or during blood-letting activities,” Zabala said. (ECB/PIA7-Bohol)
