Guv calls for executive-legislative
cooperation at inaugural session

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)—Acknowledging the key role of the legislative branch pushing for the administration’s development priorities, Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado appealed for legislative support to 8 key priorities, during the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, July 8, 2025.

Taking the chance of getting to the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the governor pressed on to the new members of the legislative body the shared vision of the province of being "smart, resilient, and inclusive;” something that the previous board members worked hard to support.

“We all want to leave a legacy of environmental sustainability, responsible tourism, and climate-smart agriculture,” Aumentado, who came in short sleeved barong said.

Coming in to a Sanggunian that had more opposition in his first term, the governor who has gained f more allies, stressed on cooperation and understanding between the executive and the legislative branches: the only way forward to make things happen.

Among the 8 priorities which the local chief executive sought for legislative support in increasing output through investment and the growth of economic enterprises and further enhancing food production for agriculture and aquaculture to achieve self-sufficiency and food security.

In his inaugural address, the governor identified enhanced food production and aquaculture in an island that no only feeds its own people, but tourists as well, whatever the climate maybe.

And perhaps through an ordinance, Aumentado wants an expanded and institutionalized rice buy-back program to be inclusive, all over Bohol.

He also sought for help in boosting the business process outsourcing industry, one of the key engines for Bohols dream of becoming a smart province.

And in the worsening traffic situation as the city implements some of its drainage programs, Aumentado eyes advancing the vision of Metro Bohol vision, where Tagbilaran City and its neighboring towns pursue sustainable urban development, in line with eco-friendly development direction.

Amid the burgeoning tourism industry, and aware of the risks of losing the Boholano identity amidst efforts to imbibe the global culture, the governor wants to promote responsible property development, one which preserves the environment, local culture and keeps its traditions.

Critical to that is also elevating Bohol's brand as a global geopark and regenerative island, which further enhances Bohol’s unique appeal to tourists and scientists.

Now with considerable achievements in his first term with the support of the legislative branch, he intimated to the council his aim to further enhance the gains of the past and complete the initiatives which the executive and legislative departments had started.

We hope that with your support to realize these plans, because "We are here to serve the Boholano people," Aumentado said.

He said being elected brings with it the task of listening to what Boholanos want and realize campaign promises.

Now that we are here at the Capitol, let us start creating a more orderly, more progressive Bohol which we can further be proud of because we cooperate and unify all our efforts, he pleaded. (PIABohol)
COOPERATION. There is only one way, and continuing the momentum of the gains during the first term can only be attained by cooperation and understanding, according to Gov Erico Aristotle Aumentado as he sought for support to the 8 priority measures to define the administration’s second term.
