June inflation at 1.5%
lowest in 12 months
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)—From a whooping 5.2 percent headline inflation in June 2024, movements in prices of basic commodities and services tames at 1.5 percent, a deceleration of .2 percent from the 1.7 percent inflation rate in May 2025.
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bohol Chief Supervising Statistician Jessamyne Anne Alcazaren bared this during the regular monthly inflation rate data dissemination, which is usually at the PSA Conference Room at Galeria Luisa Mall, here.
While this may be the lowest dip of the headline inflation in 2025 which started at 2.7 percent in January to 2.9 in February and March, the 2.0 percent inflation in April marked the beginning of the three months slide in inflation rate in Bohol to 2.0 percent, 1.7 percent and 1.5 percent in June 2005.
And when the inflation in August 2024 suddenly dove down from 4.9 in July and 5.2 percent in June 2024, it further slowed down to 1.6 percent in September, the already low inflation rate gets covered by the 1.5 percent inflation rate in June, the year’s lowest.
According to the PSA which send in a team of price monitors in major markets in Bohol, the main sources of the deceleration of the June 2025 inflation are caused by stabilizing costs of housing, water electricity gas and other fuels, which was a=noted at 10.8 percent in May 2025 to 9.4 percent in June.
Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance also helped calm the prices with a noted 0.5 percent rate in May to 0.4 in June while Recreation, Sport and Culture pegged a 0.9 inflation in May to 0.8 in June 2025.
These are despite the higher inflation are in select products alike Food and Non alcoholic beverages which run from -21 in May to -20, Alcoholic beverages and Tobacco at 3.6 percent to 4.1 percent in June.

With this, food inflation in Bohol further slid with a -2.2 inflation rate from -2.3 in May and a high 8.7 percent in June 2024, according to the PSA.
This happened despite a high inflation noted in food like fish and other seafood at 9.0 from 8,2 in May, Meat and other parts of slaughtered animals from 10.6 to 11.5 in June 2025 and Milk and other dairy products including eggs from 10.8 to 11.6 in June, PSA pointed out.
The major factor in the sliding down of the food inflation is the actual behaviour of rice which registered a -15.8 percent inflation rate in May to -16.3 in June and corn which had -18.9 in May 2024 to -21.9 in June. (PIABohol)
