TESDA Skills Olympics 2026
PTCs score more golds
than TVIs at skillsfest
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)—Bringing the name and distinctive training credibility of their respective technical and vocational trade skill training institutions, Boholanos took the challenge to rack as much tick of competency as against the global checklist of skills.
And at the end of the three-day trade skills competitions in the Provincial Skills Olympics, records show that technical vocational institutions (TVI) which help Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to leverage private sector participation in expanding access to the skills training, are getting better at producing world class skilled workers trained in the non-formal system.
Initially mandated to make skills training widely accessible, industry-relevant, and officially recognized, even for those outside the formal school system, TESDAs operation of its Provincial Training Centers (PTC) also proved still a force to get past for TVIs as the recent Skills Olympics showed.
PTC trained skills Olympics participants romped away with five of the 8 gold medals for each trade skill in the competition, while the three remaining golds were earned by TVI trainees.
PTC Tubigon representatives brought home two gold medals: in Fashion technology with Jean Crujedo while Di=vine Grace Crodua of PTC Tubigon again picked silver and in Bakery skills; Geraldine del Valle won the gold against Nina Eliesa Idulsa of PTC Bilar and Wowee Calape of PTC Pilar who picked bronze.
