Other than P196M for Bohol
LGSF releases P146 M
grant for LGU rice aid
TAGBILARAN CITY Bohol (PIA)— Other than the P196 million which the government granted to Bohol from the General Appropriations Act’s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), Tagbilaran City and 26 other municipal local government units also received a total of P146 million in financial assistance to local government units (FALGU) or growth equity fund grants (GEF), to bankroll the government’s rice aid distribution program.
LGSF FALGU is a national government program under the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Eighteen of these MLGUS which are considered poor, marginalized and lagging behind also received financial downloads worth P5 million each in a LGSF facility called Growth Equity Funds (GEF), to capacitate them to close the gap in service delivery: specifically deliver rice aid to vulnerable sectors in this time of economic crunch.
GEF provides direct funding to cities, municipalities, and provinces to implement priority development projects and provide immediate social assistance to their communities, this time with the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program (BPRP).
While Tagbilaran City received P16 million in FALGU grant, municipalities of Alicia, Carmen, Catigbian, Danao, Loboc, Pilar, Valencia and Maribojoc each got P5 million from the same FALGU, according to government sources.
In fact, Loboc also put up its counterpart fund of P2 million to expand its rice program beneficiaries coverage.
For the funds, Tagbilaran City received its Notice of Authority to Debit Account Issued (NADAI); the document issued by the Regional Bureau of Treasury (BTr) to the city, informing its local officials them that the funds has been deposited in their general fund account as early as March 16.
As to the remaining MLGUs, their NADAIs came in March 30, 2026, so that they can then immediately start the standard government bidding for the supply of P10 kilo rice in a bag, for their social relief assistance through the BPRP.
These funds became the MLGUs pocket money to initiate the rice distribution to vulnerable and crisis-affected sectors.
Also equipped with funds for the same intention are 18 MLGUs which received GEF for the same purpose.
Getting P5 million worth of equity funds are Alburquerque, Anda, Antequera, Baclayon, Batuan, Bien Unido, Bilar, Clarin, Corella, Cortes, Dagohoy, Dimiao, Duero, Lila, Loay, Maribojoc, San Isidro, Sevilla and Sikatuna.
As early as March 11, 2026, these 18 towns’ local treasury offices started receiving the P5 million equity fund downloads.
This also means that aside from the initially identified potential beneficiaries listed by the MLGUs for the Provincial Government’s BP Rice Program, the MLGUS now have the funds to expand or continue the assistance.
In Bohol, first round of distribution for the provincial government’s LGSF, distribution started in early May and was completed mid-June.
While there are yet no records of other MLGUS downloaded with LGSF funds, available records are only those with NADAIs release as of March 30, 2026. (PIABohol)
BP RICE PROGRAM. Funded by the national government through the Department of Budget and Management, the LGSF has been accessed by LGUs needing funds for their priority projects especially in hunger mitigation. Here in Bien Unido, 2000 families received rice from Bohol’s LGSF funded FALGU while MLGUs are expected to sustain the program. (PIABohol)
