Notable crimes: 32 % down,
As total crimes dip by 13.5%
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)—On the eight crimes which the Philippine National Police (PNP) put much focus in, from January 1 to June 15 in the last two years, Bohol Provincial Police Office reports a total of 32.3 % decrease.
Often seen by investors as a graphic indication of the state of peace and order management by local authorities, the 8 focused crimes include murder, homicide, physical injuries, robbery, theft, car-napping and motorcycle theft.
In a report to the joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order (PPOC) and Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (PADAC), police headquarters in Bohol Camp, Dagohoy, through Police Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Fernandez said total crimes involving the 8 focused crimes in 2025 reached 274, which is 91 cases than the 183 as recorded in police blotters province-wide from January to June this year.
This too as Camp Francisco Dagohoy crime statistical analysts noted a 13.5 percent decrease in the total crime volume recorded in Bohol for the same period.
From January to June 15, 2025, total crime incidents reached 3,268; and from the same period this year, total crime incidents only reached 2,814, for 458 crime incidents less, Police Col. Fernandez shared.
Classified into crimes affecting peace and order and crimes affecting public safety, 2026 had a better year with 1192 as against 2025’s 1,534 and 1,622 as against 1,734 crime incidents respectively.
As to crimes indicating peace and order, there were 183 cases or crime violations against the Revised Penal Code in 2026 as against 276 cases in 2025, the police Camp operations chief added.
As to non-index crimes, BPPO still sees 2026 better with only 1,009 incidents as against 1,258 in the previous year.
These can also be classified as those scored by police initiated operations or plainly reported incidents, eh explained .
Non-index crimes, or those violated against special laws including dangerous drugs, illegal firearms and explosives, illegal gambling, attempted or frustrated common crimes violations, violations against other special laws and other crimes against the Revised Penal Code, also saw a down trend.
Under Police-Initiated Operations, violations of RA 9165 or illegal drugs decreased by 22.9%, while crimes against RA 10591 or illegal firearms and explosives violations declined significantly by 61%, Col Fernandez reported.
On the other hand, Anti-Gambling Law violations increased by 42.27%, reflecting intensified police enforcement operations, he continued.
For Plainly Reported Incidents, Other Special Laws, Attempted or Frustrated Focus Crimes, and RPC Crimes Other than Index Crimes all registered decreases of 31.5%, 9.5%, and 11%, respectively.
Overall, the data indicates sustained law enforcement efforts and an improving peace and order environment in the Province of Bohol.
On the 8 focused crimes, he said murder slumped from 14 to 8 cases of 38%, homicide ducked from 7 to 2 for a 71% decrease while physical injuries went down 20% from 80 to 60 incidents.
There were more cases of rape in 2025 compared to 2026, or from 69 to 43 cases pegging a 38 percent dip; while 2026 recorder 19 robbery cases less than in 2025: from 23 to 10 incidents .
Theft also went down by 19 incidents during the reckoned period: from 72 to 68 while car-napping from 8 to 6 crime incidents, according to Lt Col Fernandez.
With this, Camp Dagohoy said the peace and order in Bohol remains generally manageable with no major incidents recorded, this is attributed to intensified police visibility and preventive patrol operations. (PIABohol)
