LGSF program nearing completion

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — Six projects in the Municipality of Sevilla funded through the Local Government Support Fund-Retooled Community Support Program-Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-RCSP-SBDP) are nearing completion.

Sevilla received P40 million in March 2026 for its priority projects.

The six cover the concreting of farm-to-market roads (FMRs) in five barangays and the construction of a health station.

The road projects are in Barangay Bayawahan (P10 million), Barangay Calingaan (P10 million), Poblacion 2 to Cabugao in Barangay Calinginan Norte (P6 million), Sitio Manhag to Ubogon in Barangay Calinginan Norte (P4 million), and Barangay Calinginan Sur (P7 million).

The health station is in Barangay Calinginan Sur (P3 million).

Sevilla Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Geruncio G. Cutin Jr. said the status of the six projects as of July 2026 is as follows: the Calinginan Norte FMR at Sitio Manhag, 85% complete (0.400 kilometer, 4 meters wide); the Calinginan Norte FMR at Sitio Cabugao, 50% (0.590 km, 4 m wide); the Calinginan Sur FMR, 50% (0.712 km, 4 m wide); the Calinginan Sur health station, 25%; the Bayawahan FMR, 15% (0.785 km, 5 m wide); and the Calingaan FMR, 25% (0.905 km, 4 m wide).

Sevilla Mayor Emmanuel C. Caberte said the funding is a component of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), which brings infrastructure, social services and development to communities.

“Our goal is simple: to ensure that peace and development go hand-in-hand. By addressing the root causes of unrest through meaningful projects and services, we are building a stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous future for all,” Caberte said.

“I urge our community leaders and residents to take an active role in overseeing these projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently and serve the long-term needs of your people. Together, we are transforming our commitment to peace into tangible progress,” he said.

The LGSF-RCSP-SBDP is a national government program that funds infrastructure and basic services in barangays that were once affected by communist insurgency and have since been declared cleared.

Under the NTF-ELCAC, residents of these barangays identify their own priority projects — such as roads, water systems, health stations and electrification — which the government then funds directly. (ECB/PIA-7 Bohol)
