Check out the Bureau of the Treasury’s (BTr) Retail Treasury Bond (RTB) 32 which the government started offering September 29 and this ends October 7, 2026, says Chloe Redeja, BTr head here.
Offered to commemorate 25th anniversary of the Philippine government's RTB program, RTB 32 is the 32nd RTB issued since its initial offer in 2001.
That is why the government decided to put a 2.5 year tenor for the Philippine government-issued bonds which is designed for individuals, institutions and retail investors scouting of accessible low-risk and high yielding investment, she explained.
Issued by the Republic of the Philippines through the BTr, an investor getting the RTB is basically lending money to the Philippine government for a fixed term and will receive fixed interest payments, with his investment capital returned at maturity.
Available through Joint Lead Issue Managers: LandBank of the Philippines and the Development Bank of the Philippines, the RTB 32 is also available through issue managers and authorized selling agents.
These authorized sellers are BDO Capital, BPI Capital Corporation. Chinabank Capital, First Metro Investment Corporation of the Metrobank group PNB Capital, Security Bank Capital and UnionBank, Redeja enumerated.
For a minimum investment of P5,000.00 which matures for 2.5 years, the RTB earns a coupon rate of 6.875 per annum.
In fact, according to the BTr, any investor may visit any authorized selling agent to open or designate a peso account for his payout over the counter on his choice bank.
He then presents valid government IDs, TIN and fill out the required RTB purchase form, settle the payment to get the official transaction receipt and confirmation of sale.
For an even more convenient transaction, purchase of the RTB may be done online through the BTR website: www.treasury.gov.ph and pick on the RTB 32 banner.
Fill out the online ordering form and select the preferred bank, confirm and agree to the terms and conditions to consummate the order.
For online mobile banking and financial app users who intend to get the bonds, one needs to complete the identity verification, add the funds which is a minimum of P5,000.00 and pay. Transaction receipt is stored in the app inbox.
For Redeja, by engaging in RTB 32, an investor expands his access to government securities by joining in prime investment opportunities usually available only to large institutional investors.
