Duterte graces 25th VMLP confab in
Bohol
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, June 28 (PIA)
-- President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Thursday graced the 25th Annual
National Convention of the Vice Mayor’s League of the Philippines (VMLP) at
Bellevue Pavilion in Panglao, Bohol.
“Indeed, I cannot over-emphasize that
you play a pivotal role in the administration’s task to rid the society of
these ills that have made our people suffer and have long impeded our
country’s development for so long.
As part of the local government units,
you are one of our front liners in bringing the government closer to the
people,” Duterte told the over six hundred vice mayors who attended the
convention.
The President arrived at around 4:00
p.m. with Special Assistant to the President, Sec. Christopher “Bong” Go, Sec.
Francis Tolentino of the Office of the Political Adviser, and Presidential
Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino.
They were welcomed by Bohol Gov. Edgar
Chatto, VMLP President Donnabel Joy Mejia, Convention Director Jose Antonio
Veloso, First District Rep. Rene Relampagos, Second District Rep. Erico
Aumentado, Third District Rep. Arthur Yap, Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell
Yap II, Dauis Mayor Marietta Sumaylo, and Panglao Mayor Pedro Fuertes.
VMLP is an organization of all vice
mayors of all cities and municipalities in the Philippines, totaling to 1,632
member LGUs.
Founded in 1988, the VMLP has been in
the service of the local government for the past 30 years.
Bannering the theme:
"Environmental Management, Yardstick of Good Governance,” the three-day
confab is hosted by VMLP Bohol Chapter Jose Antonio Veloso, the Vice Mayor of
Tagbilaran City who is also the convention director and the national treasurer
of the VMLP.
“May you continue to be a partner in
helping us attain peace, progress, and prosperity for our communities and our
