'ART Tabo sa Bohol’ launched to assist farmers
TAGBILARAN CITY, May 20 (PIA) --
The Provincial Government of Bohol through the Office of the Provincial
Agriculturist (OPA) launched on May 18 the “Agricultural Rural Transformation
(ART) Tabo sa Bohol” at the Carlos P. Garcia Park at the New Capitol Site, this
city.
"ART Tabo sa Bohol" is a
series that will be held every Monday of the week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
to assist the Boholano farmers in selling their farm products and link with
institutional buyers.
The tabo also caters to employees
who prefer to buy farm products at prices lower than those in the markets and
malls.
Assistant Provincial Agriculturist
Dr. Larry Pamugas said this program is similar to last year’s OPA regular
program “Tabo sa Plaza,” which was temporarily stopped due to the ongoing
renovation of the Plaza Rizal in front of the old capitol building.
The products sold at the tabo
include: fish from Bohol United Fish Traders Group; rice (Rice Processing
Center and Misiona Rice Mill); dairy products (Bohol Dairy Cooperative); vegetables
(Bilar Stem Vegetable Farm and LGU-Jagna); fruits (LGU Dimiao and LGU-Jagna);
meat products (Stephen Boncales); pineapples and melon (PNB-KGB Multi-purpose
Cooperative/Carmen Farmers Bagsakan Center); eggs and cooking oils (3C
Enterprises); dressed chicken (Agape R & R Foods); and Boholano delicacies
like bingka, budbod, suman (A.I.M. for Progress in Balilihan and refreshments
from P & P Enterprises).
"ART Tabo sa Bohol" is
in tandem with the “KADIWA on Wheels” (mobile market) initiated by the Provincial
Government of Bohol and the Department of Agriculture (DA) to be rolled out to
identified municipalities.
The mobile market also sells basic
necessities at a cheaper price to provide an alternative venue for consumers to
buy their goods instead of going to the markets or malls.
Gov. Arthur Yap has called on the
Boholanos to continue patronizing the mobile market so that farmer
entrepreneurs could earn through their products.
This is also a way of minimizing
the volume of people going to the markets and malls while the province is under
general community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
pandemic. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
