27MW Dagohoy Solar power
generation plant now online
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Nov 21 (PIA)--True to its promise of inclusive growth using climate smart-technologies, Bohol leaders joined green energy development investors in the switching on of a 27 megawatt (MW) Dagohoy Solar Power Plant, the first and the biggest solar power generating facility Bohol has ever attracted in the recent years.
The P1.2 Billion solar plant of the Yuchengco-led PetroGreen Corporation which sits on a 25 hectare property in San Vicente Dagohoy, uses a bank of 40,000 photo-voltaic panels that collect the raw energy of the sum, store them in batteries, and which it would send out to the Visayas grid to increase the region’s energy base.
Since it is generated as clean energy, it translates the local vision of environmental sustainability in renewable and clean energy development that could potentially light 15,000 households, into a reality.
At the switch-on ceremonies, Bohol governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado said the 27-megawatt of clean energy from the facility, makes it Bohol’s one of its most important infrastructures.”
The governor pointed out that the facility shows, what it means with reduced dependence on dirty fossil fuels, even as he urged more investments in clean energy development, as stated in his Administration’s campaign promise.
With the facility right smack in the heart of Bohol, generated power from here is released to the national grid, where it would be delivered to the consumers through their specific distribution utilities utilization plans.
The fact that the facility is also in Bohol helps the province get more added benefits, beyond the clean, cheap and renewable energy the facility promises.
Meanwhile, Taise Corporation which partnered with Petrogreen in clean energy development project here, through its Executive Vice President Jiro Taniyama, cited the move as “a symbol of progress, resilience, and shared commitment to a sustainable future.”
He added that the solar power plant is essential to mitigating the effect of projects that heavily impact on the environment, the carbon emissions that these give off, which can affect not just the country but the whole world as well.
Fir his part, Dagohoy Mayor Herminio Relampagos shared the added benefits that the project gave to his town.
“The benefits of this project are not only green energy but also it has something to do with the generation of jobs.”
Since its construction, the power plant generated thousands of jobs for the locals of Dagohoy and nearby towns, and its maintenance of the facility also entails a good squad of technicians which have been trained to make the facility run on its prime always. (PIABohol)
SOLAR FLAIR. From the heart of Bohol, a 27 MW of clean solar power is poured into the grid adding more energy base and widening the green energy sourced power in the region. The critical infrastructure which gives Bohol distribution utilities a wider elbow for bargaining in clean power went online Nov 21 with DEGEC President Francisco Delfin Jr., Department of Energy Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara, Gov. Aris Aumentado, Second District Congresswoman Van-van Aumentado, Dagohoy Mayor Hermie Relampagos, and Taise Corporation Executive Vice President Jiro Taniyama, doing the switching honors. (PIMO)
