TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA)—The Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas is urging Filipinos to adopt the “Pinggang Pinoy” food guide to promote healthy eating habits.
Ernielyn T. Butalid, DOH-7 dietician and nutritionist, explained that the “Pinggang Pinoy” illustrates the correct proportions of food on a plate for a balanced meal, based on the Recommended Energy and Nutrient Intakes (RENI) for Filipinos.
“Pinggang Pinoy” is a visual guide designed to promote healthy eating among Filipinos.
“Food is not just a privilege, it is a human right,” Butalid said, emphasizing the widely recognized principle that everyone has the right to access sufficient, safe, and nutritious food.
Butalid was one of the resource persons during the recent general assembly of the Association of United Development Information Officers (AUDIO) held in Tagbilaran City.
The activity was hosted by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Central Visayas and the National Nutrition Council (NNC).
AUDIO-Bohol is a group of information officers from the municipalities and cities, as well as national government agencies, with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) serving as its secretariat.
During the assembly, DA 7 Information Officer Cheryl Dela Victoria discussed the department’s flagship programs supporting nutrition in celebration of Nutrition Month 2025 in July.
AUDIO members were oriented on food and nutrition security which is the centerpiece of the Nutrition Month celebration.
The information officers were also encouraged to establish communal vegetable gardens in their areas.
DA 7, together with the National Nutrition Council (NNC), hosted the assembly to address concerns about food insecurity and to combat malnutrition. (ECB/PIA7-Bohol)
