City integrates SSS clearance
among 3 business processes

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, December 15, (PIA)—To the delight of the country’s social protection provider for workers in the private sector, Social Security System (SSS) authorities here announce: Tagbilaran City leads again in assuring SSS membership, as city authorities have narrowed its implementation of the eased process of doing business here.

Then, SSS authorities find it a problem to implement their mandate of making sure people are given social protection through their voluntary or self-employed memberships, the city has incorporated the mandatory SSS membership to the workers in the private sector, said Bohol SSS officer in charge Engr Alieta Basubas.

Speaking at the Kapihan sa PIA, the Cebuana chief of Bohol’s SSS, said they appreciate the move of the city to incorporate the SSS clearance upon the renewal of business permits and in getting licenses.

In fact, according to City Business Permits and Licensing Division Chief Samuel Belderol in the radio program “Meet the Mayor,” the city has started to cut short the business processes which pushed Tagbilaran to be chosen as among the country’s best business climates while getting the distinction as among the country’s most competitive cities.

Even before the government could start to implement the Ease of Doing Business Law of 2018, Tagbilaran has already streamline its processes in 2017, Belderol said.

From 14 steps then before a business could be given its permits or license, the city now has put up only three steps, Belderol announced.

By this, he hinted that the longer process of requiring multiple signatures often delays the approval of the licenses and permits and is often puts the government as suspect in the cause of red tape.

Now, there are only two signatures needed, because at times, the City Treasurer puts initials to signify that the business has paid their financial accountabilities.

Along this line, businessmen who would be filing their renewal of business permits need to pre-clear their establishments from the clearing agencies including the SSS.

From these agencies, the applicants for renewal of business licenses would only affix these clearances before officially processing their transactions, as any lack in the clearances, these would not be processed, Belderol pre-announced.

Meanwhile, with the development, the SSS hopes other local government units can emulate the City Government, so as to make sure that workers in the private sector can avail of SSS benefits during their difficult times and emergencies. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
